The existence of the Montreal Canadiens and their ability to sell high on depreciated assets make me ill

Having an Elite GM will do that for you. Something Edmonton hasn't had in a long time unfortunately.

Please tell me a 4 Team World Cup is a joke. you need 10 Teams.

Canada, USA.
Russia,
Sweden, Finland,
Czechia, Slovakia,
Germany, Switzerland.
Whoever is next ranked in IIHF rankings after this years World Championships in April/May.

The reality is you just need to look near or on the trade deadline for contending teams with a gaping hole somewhere, that’s where you usually find people willing to overpay for ****

Unless you’re Dallas apparently

Instead of trading Dickinson, KD resigned him to a bad contract and will get nothing for him now. He would likely be the 2nd best center available after Henrique. Oh well, if Only Chicago's GM knew what he was doing.

Top forward assets remaining for the trade deadline?

1. Buchnevich (team maybe isn’t selling)

1a. Guentzel (team maybe isn’t selling plus unknown if resign where he is)

2. Tarasenko (full no trade clause, will likely desire a team interested in extending to waive cause he lost musical chairs last offseason)

3. Rielly Smith (team maybe isn’t selling)

So basically nothing.

LA is in a weird place now, sitting in the middle of the pack but arguably deserving at least somewhat better results.
I think this is a case where a coaching change may help turn them around, but can't dismiss the Doughty call out and possibility their issues weren't limited to coaching alone.
Whatever the case in the locker room, the players have a scapegoat and it's up to them to turn this into a second chance.

I don't think so, Henrique is likely looking at a 2nd +3rd

Teams might get creative with this trade deadline, there aren't any big names as clear cut trade bait

Dickinson is lucky he plays for Chicago, any other circumstance, he’d be third or fourth line, that’s why Domi didn’t fetch much

Domi didn't fetch much because KD is the GM. He got 3m in FA and left money off the table (confirmed he received more from other teams) so obviously teams coveted him.

Jets got fleeced

And he got a 1st just like I predicted, I'm not surprised because he was the best center available and teams overpay at the TD.

Explain something to me. The narrative early in the season was the the Leafs didn't trade for a D-man because prices were too high and that they were waiting until the deadline when they could get a better deal. How can it be possible that the best value for a buyer is at the TDL, but simultaneously, buyers always overpay at the deadline?

I actually find it's close to the opposite. Player values are a minimum at the draft/FA and at a high during TD.

Man I'd like to see CAR make a big move. I think it could be their year with a difference maker in offence

If only they didn't have an Anchor making nearly 5 Million. That money could really be used for a difference maker.

lol you sound bitter. KK isnt an anchor

to add on CAR : Jarvis Pesce Necas Skjei will get a raise. They could really try something this year with their huge anticipated deadline cap space (an other fact why KK isnt an anchor at all capwise)
