Raanta is currently the Canes only healthy NHL caliber goalie. It’s highly unlikely they move Raanta for picks.

Asking for a first from the Hawks breaks any deal. Even if it didn’t that is an overpay.

Kudos for not putting Ryjo in that Hawks trade as well. Hawks still decline. Hawks aren't giving up a 1st for a player who does nothing to move the rebuild forward. Av's can have Blackwell for a 5th.

So you want the Hawks to solve Colorado’s cap issues and give them a 1st round pick to do it… 😂

This brutal. Kuzy is an automatic no you do realize he has less points than RyJo right? COL would be better off doing nothing than this.

A 25yr old top 4 dman that is great in transition and plays in all situations locked in with no trade protection doesn’t move the rebuild forward? I mean ok I wouldn’t do the trade from COL’s side but a guy like Girard getting PP1 time with Bedard for a season would be worth more than that trade. Also just out of curiosity what do Hawks fan make of giving guys like Dickinson big raises when you could weaponize that cap space, that’s a serious question I’m really curious?

Hawks are stacked at left D so zero need, and not a chance they give up a first anyway.

Even with the re-signings of Foligno and Dickinson, the Hawks still have in excess of $40m in cap space, more than enough to weaponize.

Part of the plan is getting solid veterans they know are good in the room locked up so that they can easily reach the cap floor and not have to pay (draft capital) to achieve that requirement.

Well Savard he's not a cap dump... Plus Habs won't do a third retention on a contract like that.... Monahan, Pearson or else but not Savard for a such low return... Olausson won't blossom into top 9 players anytime soon. Malinski undersized D on a crowded blueline prospects in Montreal isn't what they need.

What does that have to do with my statement? I agree MTL doesn’t do that trade but COL doesn’t do any of the other ones and the WSH trade is down right brutal for COL, a more expensive less producing guy than RyJo in Kuz and an often injured 3rd pairing guy for 2 1st rd picks is atrocious. But that’s not what I said in my original post is it?

The only thing the Hawks DON'T need is a top 4 left shot D. They are loaded on the left side of their blue line. They have 22 yo Alex Vlasic and 19 yo Kevin Korchinski playing top 4 minutes already, with two more really good 20 yo prospects playing in the AHL. Another LD is the LAST thing the Hawks spend a 1st rounder on unless it's a Rasmus Dahlin level guy. Girard isn't that. As for the PP, Korchinski is QB1. Seth Jones is QB2. Again, not a need.

As for the Foligno and Dickinson signings, yes, both players got paid more than they are worth. But they are both great fits in Chicago, and even after those two signings, the Hawks still need to spend like $20m more just to hit the cap floor. With the cap going up, there will be far fewer cap dumps available in trades. Hawks probably still make a trade or two to take on bad contracts, but a team can't build it's entire roster that way. Hawks don't plan to chase any big money free agents until next summer at the earliest, so the Foligno and Dickinson signings are fine by me.
