Avs fans have been telling me for weeks that they want a center who can skate and yet this post has the team paying roughly 3x the value for the center that's the worse skater.

Can't see the hawks taking ryjo for anything less than a 3rd

Gonna take more than an AHL warm body to get CHI to eat that contract.

Quite surprised you value Henrique that much more than Monahan.
Insiders have made it pretty clear the order of preference for most teams is Lindholm, Monahan, Henrique.
Monahan also costs 1/3 if Henrique and yet the offer for Henrique includes two of Avs top 5 prospects above and beyond the Monahan offer.

Interesting. Anaheim smash accepts and when that occurs, you got got.
Hopefully for Montreal the Henrique trade happens first because the market for Monahan goes bananas then

A 25 year old minor league player isn't very attractive to other teams and it's definitely not enough to take on a cap dump.

Too much for one of my favorite Ducks (whom I don't want to trade at all). As much as I'd love to steal someone blind, Colorado isn't one of those teams and I gave up crime for Lent.

A second line of Monahan, Nichushkin and Lehkonen/Rantanen would be great. As others have pointed out thats a lot to give up for Henrique.

I think you're pretty far off on Meyers’ valuation. He is an NHL quality player, but has one more game before he loses waiver eligibility. As a result, he’s kinda trapped in the AHL from a roster management standpoint.

If Meyers went onto a team with less competition, he’d be an easy 4C with upside. Granted, those aren’t the most valuable assets. But it’s not like you’re being offered Gianni Fairbrother or something.

Chicago has a couple of guys in that mold already in Guttman, Katchouk, Entwistle and Anderson. I don't hate the player but I don't see how he helps the team enough to take on RyJo's contact.

Tbh I have no idea how much a cap dump will cost. It seems so inconsistent.

That said, I think a bad team like Chicago would benefit from giving Meyers a look. Could be a sneaky/cheap piece

He's turning 26 soon and has played 53 NHL games. What in god's name are you talking about.

Ofc but he he has more potential than a warm body. Also, he's only played 53 games because the Avs have too much skill to use him. He definitely earns a job on a worse team.

26 year old with 6 points in the NHL and you're talking about his "potential."

Potential to be a good 2nd liner on the Chicago Wolves maybe.

Maybe. But he isn't worth a 3rd, not even when packaged with a 5th. Also, we have too many players in that bottom 6 mold right now. With all the injuries CHI's had this season, KD was forced to trade for and claim and call up players from the AHL prematurely.

I'd be reluctant to take on RyJo for a 3rd, but it might get it done. And I think that ask would be pretty hardlined. We don't want "this plus this equals a 3rd". We have plenty of depth in our system and don't need more. Quality is what we need now, and at least a third is something we can package with other pieces to trade up in the draft, or trade for another player, or even just use the pick, because pretty good players have been slipping to the 3rd round in recent years. We just got Lardis in the last draft, who is looking like he could've been a 1st round pick in hindsight.

Tweener, maybe a bottom 6 guy in the NHL but maybe the Hawks take a chance on Meyers and do this trade

It’s a local media thing so you are going to see a lot of people that are going to make trades that don’t make sense.
