Players that could be on K Hughess radar

Created by: ChuckMTL84
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Feb. 12, 2024
Published: Feb. 12, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Lmk what you guys think of the players and also if youre a fan of the other team what the price would look like/if they would be interested in hearing out offers on these players
Trades
1.
ANA
The cost to most fans is the 2024 first + a B+ ish prospect OR one of our A prospects (slaf ghule reinbacher and a late first or an early second)
    2.
    MTL
    1. Mittelstadt, Casey
    2. Peterka, John-Jason
    3. Quinn, Jack
    4. Savoie, Matthew
    Additional Details:
feels like at least one of these players are gonna have too be moved or there will be too many people for the top 6. Obviously buf has no reason too move some of these rn as they have more years on their contract but eventually they will for sure have cap issues.
    BUF
    3.
    MTL
    1. Reichel, Lukas
    Additional Details:
could be available? hes been REALLY struggling
    CHI
wouldnt pay too much for reichel tbh
      4.
      MTL
      1. Suzuki, Ryan
      Additional Details:
needs a change of scenery for sure
      CAR
      5.
      CBJ
Probably a similar price to zegras
        6.
        DAL
would a retained savard + maybe a pick do it?
          7.
          NYR
I personally would feel comfortable giving up WPGs pick for him yes he is a bust in the way that he will never live up too being a 2nd overall but i think he can be a very solid 3rd liner. NYR might be interested in acquiring a pick this year since they wanna participate in the draft in vegas and they might one of use one of those for center depth
            8.
            FLA
im higher on most then him i think but i see him as a 60 point guy with very good defensive capabilities. I think him and suzuki would make a very good 1 and 2c
              9.
              10.

Regarding Z, fair depiction. Caveat being no Guhle. ANA is set at LD

And also, just to highlight from the ANA pov, I’m not sure anyone actually wants to see that trade happen (even for those assets), just that that’s the value and return required to be considered if Verbeek didn’t see him as a long term fit for some reason

Yes, 1. Mittelstadt, it's been discussed a million times already. The only thing MTL has to offer is Reinbacher

Reichel isn't available and if he was you wouldn't pay the price Chicago would want. He's learning the physical aspect of the game after being a skilled perimeter type his entire career. That's where his struggle comes from. He's still young and developing, and Chicago seems content playing the long game with his development.

Sabres really don't have to move any of those forwards. Theres plenty of space for all of them. They just have a doofus head coach who insists on giving that ice time to 80 year old kyle okposo. Hopefully he'll retire this summer and that will no longer be an issue.

I'm guessing 3 year extension, but I'm not optimistic these days.

I think at this point they both know his presence is no longer adding value to the team. Not in the sense that the players dont like him and that he's not a good guy, but he and girgensons are the guys the fans most closely associate with everything wrong with the team cause of their tenure. Not validating this line of thinking, but it's the easiest way to pretend to give the fans the change they want.

The Sabres do have a logjam coming,
BUT we also have a few years BEFORE we need to move someone out

So we’ve got time to make our decisions
ONLY way I’d see us doing something NOW, or even this offseason, is if the return coming back SPECIFICALLY fills a hole we NEED FILLED to help us “win now”
              For example:
We could use a young-ish (think 26-27year old) RD who is defensive oriented & a solid top4 guy

Those obviously don’t grow on trees though
So unless something unexpected comes up, u probably don’t see us move out ANY of those guys in the near future

Everyone on CapFriendly: "I want Reichel or (insert any given player), but also he sucks and I don't want to pay anything for him."

If this is you, then don't even bother considering Reichel or any player you feel that way about. Either you see value in them or you don't. Make a decision.

              Quoting: Stadel
I think at this point they both know his presence is no longer adding value to the team. Not in the sense that the players dont like him and that he's not a good guy, but he and girgensons are the guys the fans most closely associate with everything wrong with the team cause of their tenure. Not validating this line of thinking, but it's the easiest way to pretend to give the fans the change they want.

Okposo could be offered a job as a coach or in management somewhere in the Sabres organization as well

Sabres are unlikely to deal any of those guys in the division
