I think the trade is fair but, if I'm Chicago I'd rather go for the best guy unless they are convinced everyone after pick 1 is equal-ish in potential

Maybe Chicago will gonna want to target a RD or a offensive player like Catton (and maybe a saffer option), and a team like the Habs will gonna want to target a high-potential.

If the Hawks can get Levshunov at that pick I think they do it. Otherwise its a big risk because IMO they should just take BPA

I think Chicago's biggest need is finding guys at forward that can score with Bedard in 1-2-3yrs time, but a RHD could be good too.

Hawks aren't in a place to be trading down just yet. They should still be drafting best available for the next season or 2

Who's the Consensus #3OA?
Right now #1 is a Lock , #2 most say Levushunov
#3 has been Eiserman, Demidov, Saliyev ,Lindstrom and Dickinson regularly with guys like Catton, Parekh and even Buium making appearances on some Pro Analysts cards. So BPA is kinda what you make it

Come to think of it
If im MTL right now i try to Acquire a pick like NJD or SEA as they're in a weird spot right now as they plan on Contending next year.
Find a way to help them acquire Markstrom by RS of 3m that CGY shot down the deal over being unwilling.

For NJD pick this year MTL will RS 3m on Markstrom and give NJD the CGY pick while giving CGY Harris
CGY keeps whatever else was in the deal thats not NJD 1st this year and in exchange for a pick a year later NJD gets Markstrom at 3m x 2 years

MTL gives up CGY's 1st in 2025 back to them, Harris and RS 3m x2 years for NJD currently 8th OA pick
CGY gives up Markstrom
NJD give up 8thOA pick this year(and whatever else you guys agreed to , this is just MTL taking that 8th and substituting the above stated pieces)

NJD can add in whatever else they had in the trade or do whatever to balance it.
MTL cares solely about the 8th OA this year as at this point in the rebuild 2 top 10 picks puts an end to Tank Mode.
We could end up with Lindstrom and Eiserman or Catton and Silayev , who knows but the timing of it fits to go in and Double Down again this year.

My last Markstrom trade got curb stomped pretty bad by NJD so i think at best i'd be safe to just do a MTL trade with them for that pick as there's a disconnect between the 2 trading teams on value.
Give it a day if they dont completely tear me to shreds in 24 hours ill put in a shot at making that deal, its just i dont particularly care for dealing with CGY fans as they're a bit stunned sometimes. The have perceived values way off the mark then judge you for accurately guessing the Allen return .

Sure but if I'm in the position to choose who I think is the best of the bunch I'm not giving up the choice.

It depends on what’s available T 5, but if the hawks can get one of Lindstrom, Leshunov, Siliev, I think they would have to consider it.

Hawks are likely going for a forward, and one of Demidov, Lindstrom or Catton would definitely still be on the board at #5 in this scenario. For me, the BIG variable in this deal is where that Winnipeg pick falls in the draft order. If it's a top 22 or 24 pick, then Hawks probably consider this. If that Winnipeg pick is #25 or later, then Hawks probably pass. Late 1st's in this year's draft class aren't worth much more than early 2nd's. That group of players from 25 to 40 is all about the same. And considering Dvorak is a cap dump and Harris isn't a guy the Hawks would value much, it really comes down to #2 overall for the two 1st's and a 3rd.

I think trading up at a premium anywhere between and within 2nd and 10th, is a bad idea. You are not necessarily getting the better player here, simply getting a guy you like better. IMHO That's a bad move from the get go. if the cost was somewhat cheap, then fine but not at a premium.

I doubt CHI is taking Dvorak back in a trade like this and they won't have any interest in Harris. Other than that, I think trading back should be on the table. This proposal, however, probably isn't it. I FIRMLY believe forward should be the focus, but if one of Lindstrom, Demidov, or Catton are not there at 5th overall, there are still plenty of players that would make this a smart move. If one of them is available there, then CHI wins the trade and Kyle Davidson gets another gold star sticker for his collection.
