Not a bad idea but if executed, the Leafs now have a younger Ryan Johansen. Good luck!

If they were going to it would never be for lesser parts. The Jackets do not need more depth in their prospect pool which is something the people on this site cannot seem to grasp. A 20 y/o developing center with 208 NHL games under his belt already does not get moved for cheap.

Hawks decline. Hawks aren't giving up anything for always injured Timmins. And nobody is paying a 3rd for always injured Timmins.

Why would the Leafs give up so much for Sillinger? Or the Hawks?

A team starved for centers isn’t moving a decent one three years into his development for a tiny winger prospect who can’t stay healthy and a future first. No.

If your mind is telling you “sillinger is busting” or leaning that direction. I will remind you that he cannot legally buy a beer in the United States. We are a long ways away from selling him for parts.

Not the point. We would rather have the young player who plays a position of weakness and does it well than a mystery bag player who may be ready to play in 2-3 years if we draft well. Not a guarantee.

This is your idea of a joke, right? Maybe in terms of results but absolutely nowhere near that in terms of drive and effort.

His 18 year old season they were hyping him up as a future captain because of his work ethic and defensive play!!! Wild how his personal life and one bad season has turned him from one of the best young players into a bust and a player we would need to sell high on.

You’re forgetting that Columbus is simultaneously a tire fire void of any talent and also full of prospects other teams would kill to get their hands on. Honestly, we should be delighted to take the Leafs’ scraps since they’re the Leafs’ scraps.

Ah yes, those pesky 'results' always getting in the way of perception.

As for the effort, during the intermission they asked him how to deal with the Avs speed. He said they just had to turn it up a notch. The next period they get totally destroyed up & down the ice. Way to turn it up.

What I was referring to was that Joey is more skilled than Sillinger but he dogs it so much that he ends up at about the same level of production that Sillinger achieves through hard work and perseverance.

Mostly seconding what other Jackets fans have already said: no reason to move Sillinger for lesser parts and prospects/picks. He's still very young and starting to look pretty good already.

Is he untouchable? No. But if we're moving him to Toronto it's as a package deal for Matthews/Knies/Nylander (an upgrade), not a lateral move. Since Toronto would never do that, Columbus would never trade Sillinger there.

I wouldn't call Knies an upgrade on Sillinger. Knies is playing probably the most enviable position in the league in terms of linemates and he's barely outproducing Sillinger who is also becoming a very competent PK contributor. Considering Knies is also a winger as opposed to a center I'd argue that's a downgrade for the Jackets.
