I think the hawks would prefer more draft capital to mid-tier prospect, but I would at least consider this deal.

I'd have a tough time trading Batherson with how well he's been playing as of late relative to his contract. but this would get the Sens thinking a bit at the very least

Makes sense. Is he playing with Stutzle lately?

The Sens who need cap, just might do that deal.
But six years of 31 year of DeMelo? Yikes.

It's a bit hefty but I imagine he gets offered this from the Jets or in UFA. The term is to convince him to come and play with Hughes.

Hawks might consider that. Klimovich checks several boxes that the Hawks are looking for. Although being coached by Colliton in the AHL is certainly a negative.

The interesting thing about Batherson is he was playing at a 90+ pt pace and looked like a star prior to Aaron Dell injuring him behind the net and getting a high ankle sprain. He came back that year , didn’t look right . Didnt look right last year either , he even said he wasn’t 100% .

He’s finally now looking the last 20 games like that same player again. Batherson I always thought easily had point per game potential

Really? That's interesting as Colliton seems to have had a positive impact on Canucks prospects development vs Trent Cull who often favored vets. Not sure his approach in Chicago.

As much as I love Lekkerimaki, a late 1st in a draft a year from now and a B-C prospect doesnt make up the difference to Batherson, especially considering the value he brings with production relative to his contract which still has term. If Ottawa were to seriously consider moving him it would need to be for a package that was an objective overpay, similar to the perception surrounding th Hagel deal with TB, which I dont think is something that would interest the Canucks who, like Ottawa, are going to be hard pressed for cap space.

Ya, I can see that perspective for sure. Batherson is extremely productive and on a great deal. The TB firsts were both late and top 10 protected for Hagel. Raddysh a kicker. So maybe another prospect/young roster player could be desired.

Colliton was an absolute trainwreck behind the bench in Chicago. He literally did nothing well. Glad he has found his calling in Abbottsford.

I think the Sens would only move Batherson for a very good, young top 4 Rd

    I agree with that.
