Some fans may disagree but Edmonton (from my perspective at least) 1000% accepts that deal.

Holtz might put up 35-40 goals on Drai's wing oh my lord

Sharks do that if Parekh, Catton, Buium, or Yakemchuk are available there.

One of those guys will be there at #10

Any reason you think the Devils would trade down? Seems like a year where the top 10-12 are looking a lot more promising than the next tier of guys. I know I wish the Blues would've done a little more losing to secure that top10 spot.

Man... in this, seeing Buium, Silayev and Dickenson available at 10, makes me wonder if the Blues can somehow get to 10-12 to snag one.. but knowing our luck we won't trade up and they'll all be gone.

I think they want some additional tradeable assets to fill some holes and add depth. They are likely adding some bottom-line forwards, a 5/6 LHD, maybe a 3C and perhaps a goalie. Many of those pieces wouldn’t require a 1st.

Also, from the sound of it, some of the guys they could be looking at in draft appear like middle-first round types (ie, some of the power forward like Greentree, MBN, etc).

Seems plausible they would entertain moving from #10 to mid-teens and add some picks.

Agreed on everyone but Silayev and Dickinson imo. I think Buium would be the only LD i'd be interested in. They desperately need a top RD prospect and a Center/RW would be next in line.

If they get Levshunov at 2-3, I think Catton/Demidov/Helenius would be great players to trade up for. I think Greentree may be a good option available at 14 without trading up.

If they get Celebrini, Gods willing, then they should go hard after Parehk or Yakemchuck. If the price is too high to move up than Jiricek is a good option at 14

Can't see the caps moving Beck (with how well the fourth line plays together) for this package. Maybe if it were Beck and a Fourth for a Second they might do that

How are you valuing Broberg? I.e. if you left him out of the deal, what would that look like? I noticed that you didn't have him on your roster.

I wouldn't move from 10th to 14th for anything less than a late 1st (Post lottery with no change) which may be too much for a team to swallow. NJ is going get a core piece of their future at 10 IMO. Not sure they will at 14. Not saying that is "fair" value just that it would have to be absurd value to make that downgrade. IMHO the top 10 are locks. May even extend to 12 but after that I feel there is a drop off. Not necessarily in talent but in likelihood of reaching potential.

Kind of reminds me of the 2011 draft. If you got top 10, you don't trade down.

This is a draft where anything from 5-15 or so is about the same prospect caliber. It will all just be down to preference, which is why I don't think there are going to be a lot of teams looking to make big moves up the board unless a guy you have super high happens to fall 5+ spots. Pretty much everyone outside of Celebrini has a real wart to their game that makes them very risky (which is why this is viewed as a pretty weak draft class).

I disagree about that range but that's just my amateur opinion of course. I think the top 3-10 are interchangeable only. After that it starts to be a little more grey.

Your proposal is fair value wise but I’d personally rather just hold onto him. Love Beck’s game.

    I see it as roughly

    Tier I: Celebrini

Tier II: Levshunov, Demidov, Catton, Eiserman

Tier III: Buium, Connelly, Dickinson, Silayev, Lindstrom, Yakemchuk, Iginla, Helenius, Greentree, Brandsegg-Nygard, Boisvert, Parekh, Chernyshov, Jiricek

(A few of those guys bounce around between II and III)

So I would agree with @SJS2212 in that the 6-15 range is a little similar and unless one of the top few fall, it could make some sense for NJD to move back and add an asset or two.

In the scenario above, they turned #10 pick into 3C, 4LW and still drafted Brandsegg Nygard (a guy that could have selected at #10). Most of our core is already built, thanks to years of high draft picks, so we mainly just have to address specific holes in lineup.

(Devils brass may have other plans…including trading the pick outright).

Sounds good to me…but it all is contingent on us adding a 2nd rounder to trade here.

Respectfully disagree with that tier 2 and 3. Having Jiricek in the same tier as guys like Buium and Parekh is.... a choice.

Guys will move up and down on different people's lists...but the general point I was making is that there is little that separates picks 10 and 15, imo
