I don't see a fit there for MTL.

What they have is cap, what they don't is elite talent. Here they are sacrificing potential talent for cap which is just not a smart thing to do in their position.

That's not happening, sorry. Guhle is worth a decent bit more than the difference between Anderson and Brodin, and I don't really think MTL would be too interested in moving down that much, even if it is to get Rossi (although it wouldn't be impossible)

I get that MTL is dumping Anderson in the process, but they have a much bigger need for Guhle & the 5th OA than for Brodin & Rossi.

Hard to sum it up as short and good than this!

Seems like a horrible trade for Montreal. Guhle may not end up as good as Brodin but he projects as a similar style player in a top 4 role. They also aren't close enough to contending to make a move like this and Anderson, while overpaid is not hurting them that bad cap wise.

I like Brodin a lot, but he just doesn't make sense for Montreal. As in, he has a lot of value, but not to Montreal.

There's not really a workable trade here for Montreal.

Montreal isn't a taking on any more small fowards and/or giving up a 5th OA lol.

10oa and Mercer for 13oa, Rossi, and Gus. Throw in some smaller pieces if you think it's unbalanced. If Mercer isn't of interest then Holtz, Bahl, or a prospect would be on the table

Edit: I see you posted pretty much the same offer with Holtz lol

If you were GM of the Wild, would you rather get Holtz or Mercer in this deal?

That tips the scales far too much into Montreal's favor then.

1) Brodin is what Ghule could become, and out values him by a ton. At least currently.

2) Anderson is a straight dump. His negative value drags down the trade so much, something needs to be coming back to take his contract.

By taking out the picks, the trade basically becomes Rossi straight up for Anderson. Which defies logic.

I think Holtz's perceived value is at an all time low, but I still like him a lot, probably more than most. Both are complementary wingers, but Mercer is more two way and Holtz is all offense no defense. Really depends on what Minny needs if they see the two as the same value, but I can't imagine they see Holtz as worth half what Mercer is.

From the Devils' POV it depends what the ask is for Saros or Swayman. If one of those goalies can be bought for the cost of Holtz/Mercer+ and not 10oa, then the other winger gets traded for Rossi and 10oa is kept.

Guhle is a lot meaner than Brodin, both players are defensive minded first defenseman but Guhle have a physical edge that Brodin don’t possess. There also more offense to Guhle game. We will see that when Mtl bonified their offense. Guhle isn’t going anywhere.
