Realistic returns, Sens would be lucky to get out of the fire with this few burns.

Eugene's Wild Ride - Let Me Off Edition
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RedDevils24</b></div><div>Only reason I don't see this happening is that you'd be below the cap floor, probably need to look at taking on some bad contracts (with low salary for Eugene).</div></div>
Yeah they would need to either sign FAs or make a trade to absorb some ugly cap. The LTIR also wouldn't come into effect at this low of a salary. I just wanted to emphasize how truly fucked up bad this team is.

Trades for Draft Picks
I think you would be interested in this paper trying to determine draft pick value: <a href="http://myslu.stlawu.edu/~msch/sports/Schuckers_NHL_Draft.pdf" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">http://myslu.stlawu.edu/~msch/sports/Schuckers_NHL_Draft.pdf</a>
A little old now but conceptually right what you are looking for I think. Also no way Johnsson takes that little for 4 years.

No one ever does Ducks AGM, lots of great prospects..but can they still compete?
I agree they are a playoff team in the pacific next season. I think the RFA signings are very reasonable, however they will probably want to give Montour a longer term after his great season last year. I also suspect Kesler will be 2C again if his hips are working and steel/henrique will battle for 3C spot. Could also see Steel starting on the RW somewhere. I also suspect Rakell will play LW and Eaves will play RW this season as that was where they mostly have been. Looking at this roster, the ducks are probably the most physical team in the league, will be interesting to watch their games and see if they can punish the speed/controlled entry play that has gotten so popular everywhere else.

All this cap space, any ideas?
They have to sign kucherov, point, gourde and any defensemen after next season, can't do anything with term. Could take on an unfavourable deal with 1 year left for futures or pursue guys like Kunitz for a 1 year deal to take another crack at her.

Not enough for OEL, I think value is close on Grubauer, J Johnson would be a great signing but I am not convinced Bozak is a good play.

Ellis plays on the right side, he wouldn't go to pittsburg and compete with letang and schultz.

Transition Year (Draft+Carlson)
-Not sure Dobson is still around at 10
-Carlson deal is a tad cheap but believable
-don't think NYR make that trade, they've committed to a youth core and will be signing Namestnikov for that 2C nuge role
-don't think Florida makes that trade either
-a note on the Vegas as a 'cap-donkey', I don't think they will be anymore. This offseason they will sign their core to long term deals and the space will evaporate. W Karlsson, Theodore, Neal, Colin Miller, and Perron are the big ones, then next season basically the rest of their team hits free agency.
Overall a good direction for the team, I like Merkley a lot but he may also not be around at 26. Quick skating offensive RHD won't be coming cheap this year I don't think...

Vegas Golden Knights signed Tomas Hyka (1 Year / $650,000 AAV)
Great value, still an RFA on expiry, I think he will have a good season next year if he can stick on the third line. Long term they may not be able to afford him, especially if they go after any UFAs outside their own.

Will be interesting to see what Fabbri and Edmundson sign for - these would be very team friendly terms, especially for Fabbri. I could see his contract being double or triple that easily, especially if they try for any term.

Moving down with PHX
Neither trade would happen I don't think, but especially the zona one. They don't need a rental win-now piece at all, maybe if you took out the pick coming back to the habs, but OEL is very expensive.
Calgary doesn't really have a need for dmen, but their 3rd left spot is a question-mark for now so maybe. Also they are not looking to move picks at this point.

Right handed top pairing defenseman.
I don't think that's enough value from the Leafs' end. JVR is good but 1 year before he's a UFA means his trade value is tiny compared to Trouba who is an RFA and will have significantly less negotiating power. I think if the leafs threw Soshnikov, Kapanen, or Rychel in here this could work.

Jarnkrok, Caggiula, and Yamamoto would be the fastest aggregate line in the NHL haha. I like the signings and the trade fills needs for both teams.

Sedins and The Nuge
Sort-of, do you say that because you think it's overpaying for the Sedins? My intention was for that to be valued as closer to a dead-line deal when the Canucks are doing terribly and the Habs are in full win-now/buy-a-center mode. Henrik would be a really good fit for their scoring center/powerplay setup needs, and I think Daniel going just makes sense.

As far as I know, Marchessault has never played center in the NHL and only infrequently in the AHL. Also, at 5'8", and with a very offensive toolkit, I don't see him being the #1 C that MTL needs...

I don't see Boyle going that cheap or at that term. He may go over 3 M x 3 years, very responsible defensive center with size who will be looked at long and hard by every competitive team.
