Rakell has one assist through six games this season. Same to say he isn’t going anywhere right now.

He vanishes when matched up against top talent. We saw it all of last post season and at the start of this year.

Both Teams Need This Deal NYI PIT
Moving Pageau would significantly weaken the bottom six, while helping a division rival improve in an area of need. Rackell is the better player, but I can’t see the isles trading Pageau straight up for Rackell tbh.

I’m surprised that Vancouver is willing to retain on a quality player like Garland. Personally, I would try and move Beau/Myers with 50% retention to clear space before dealing Garland for peanuts.

If it was Ostlund + a late first I’d get it, but you actually asked for a second in this deal. Also Ostlund might have been taken too high….

In a hypothetical world where the isles r out of the playoffs and willing to rebuild them Nelson would fetch at minimum what Ryan O’Reilly fetched last year. I don’t see either scenario as very likely tho given the importance of having a strong defense and goaltending to a teams success.

ALL IN - 1 Last Time for The Core - 3 MUST Get YOUNGER Trades away
The issue with this trade is that the Islanders number one need is a speedy top six winger, and Boeser is not known for his foot speed. Also this organization won’t benefit from selling low on Pageau and Wahlstrom. Islanders decline imo.

Can Nylander play C in the NHL
I think Nylander can absolutely play center at the NHL level, but he shouldn’t in Toronto. Tavares is elite on face offs so moving him away from center is going to hurt the leafs more than it helps them imo.

If we REALLY wanted him, we could also just wait until Toronto can't afford him and then sign him for free next year when we're in a better position to compete.</div></div>
I think the ability to slide him to left wing or even center makes up for most of ur concerns, but I appreciate and respect ur position. That being said if you look at teams like Colorado, Tampa Bay and Vegas then I don’t think you should be worried about having surplus star power.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ennis</b></div><div>I don't think Nylander get's us over the hump either. Even if we move some of our assets to acquire him, there still leaves the issue of our depth, which is lacking. Plus, I doubt Trotz is going to bring in Nylander and then pay him more than our captain.
Trotz said he wants to retool on the fly. Take a step back before taking one forward. We have a lot of young players who are taking massive strides in their growth as well has having 5 first round picks playing in Milwaukee this season. Bringing in guys like Schenn and ROR to mentor the rookies while letting them get the minutes they need.</div></div>
Any addition worth making in Nashville will probably require paying someone more than the Captain. The cap is about to see a huge spike, and players will take that into account. Nylander is a dynamic PPG forward who has experience at all three forward positions. I wouldn’t hesitate to add him.

I don’t blame Trotz for believing that Forsberg, Josi and Saros can lead a team to a title, but I don’t believe that Pesce is the guy who gets them over the hump. They would be better off targeting William Nylander who would be a huge addition to their top six. Whether or not McDonough can bounce back from last season will determine whether or not they’re blue line is championship caliber regardless of any Pesce acquisition imo.

Sorry. Sometimes I just think of the Oilers as Draisaitl/McDavid and that’s it. Like how people think Barzal/Sorokin with the isles.

He ran a mediocre second unit PP on the most offensively gifted team in the entire NHL. He has a tendency to make the big mistake, and last year was the first time his plus/minus was positive. He would be making Brett Kulak money if not for the fact that he’s a righty, just like how Mayfield would make McNabb money if he was a lefty. Right handed defenseman just get grossly overpaid, and grossly overrated too.

Severson is incredibly overrated if his contract is anything to go by and the same goes for Korpisalo. Also pretty much everyone knows how good Josi, Andersson, Roy, Sandin, Thomas, Kuzmenko and Stutzle are.

I think a more likely package would be Wally, Johnston, a first and a third but that’s mainly for cap reasons. It’s a decent offer that I think the isles would seriously consider.

Both these trades are bad for Chicago… not the other way around. Nazar is a high end center prospect and Rinzel + Kurashev have value too. Add in the picks and this is a hard no for Chicago. Also Jan Rutta is a negative asset, so idk what this guy was thinking there either tbh.

Scheifele doesn’t fill a real need in NY. If the isles were to make a trade with Winnipeg then they would have to be targeting Connor imo. Not saying Winnipeg wants to move him, but that’s the type of player the isles and every other team in the league wants/needs.

What does that make of Pageau if he can't outproduce a 4th liner? With at least $2.5M-$3M higher cap hit? Also, if you think Grzelcyk is a 3rd pair D, you should want the Isles to acquire him because you only have two good defensemen in this case and he'd become your 3rd best.</div></div>

Not easy to compare the production of a center to a winger. Also while I think Frederic could play higher in the lineup, he doesn’t move the needle for me.

The isles have Dobson, Pelech and Pulock. He’s probably not better than Romanov and Grzelyck. He would he be their 3rd best lefty at best.
