Roster Frenzy the Sequel
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ottawasean</b></div><div>No GM would trade Marner. Matthews and Tavares wouldn't be happy. He's a potential Hart candidate, a great set up guy. He might be the second best player taken in 2015.
Redoing the first two lines? No upgrade in net? No Gio?
Curious why these decisions.</div></div>
In all fairness, you guys have serious cap issues. Only about 9 million to re-sign Campbell, Gio, Mikehyev, Engvall, Liljegren, and Lyubushkin if you want. Gonna lose some players for nothing it looks like.

I like a lot of these ideas but I wouldn’t move Liljegren. Don’t get Schenn, and replace Lily with a lesser asset

Konecny is the perfect guy for Ottawa and I'd happily give up those picks + Jarventie and Mandolese.
Certainly wouldn't pay Nick Paul that much. If that's the ask Ottawa should be moving him at the deadline for a 2nd then use that 2nd to get Arizona to take Zaitsev.

I have JBD stepping into our lineup next year. Sogard is a good goalie prospect but Philly needs a goalie. Jarventie is still young but we do not know if he's going to be an everyday NHL player yet. We still have our 2nd round pick. If Sens are not competitive next year, Dorion's out. It's been a 5 year rebuild already. Konecny is on a solid 5.5 mil for the next 4 years. He's a power forward who would be amazing in a playoff series and would fit in our identity. We need a top 6 forward who is at a reasonable cap with Jimmy Stu and Sanderson coming up! This would be a great deal for both teams.

deadline deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ottawasean</b></div><div>What does Miller bring that Toronto needs. They have a very strong offence - but need defence. Toronto needs to stop looking for "shiny things". The D additions would do a lot more than another scoring winger.
Mrazek move seems more likely - at TDL or after - to free up cap for Campbell</div></div>
The Leafs second line has been brutal as of late and bringing in a player with an edge is always a bonus. This would make the Leafs top two lines much more formidable as well as really shore up some of their "grit" issues throughout all 4 lines.
I agree that it doesn't make much sense to bring someone like that in without grabbing a defenseman as well.

Pinto (at least at this point in his career), White, and Brannstrom are not the type of players that improve a team that much.

It isn't really a big change in personnel. Main thing for Senators is for next season is avoid injuries, Covid, and further growth with their young players. I like the look of the future Sens.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ottawasean</b></div><div>Even if Montreal wanted this would likely create issues in Colorado with big contracts coming with their young players, MacKinnon needing a new contract.</div></div>
In this scenario Drouin would be allowed to walk in UFA, unless he absolutely takes off and becomes a PPG player or something crazy. Avs basically just need a top 6 forward for one year in 2022/23 before Byram and Newhook need raises.

TDL moves
Tierney might be helpful...but a 2nd is a big overpay for him. If they can get him for a 4th and 5th...or a 4th + a distant prospect (Gettinger?)- then go for it. Any more expensive than that and NYR should pass. One guy I would look at to fill the 3C void, though is McCann...if dealing with Seattle, that's the guy they should be looking at. For sure he'd be more expensive, but he's still RFA after this year- so if they can't extend him (and they probably wont be able to) they should be able to move him and get a little value back- so he's not really a pure rental.
As far as the Gio move- I'd stay away, and certainly wouldn't burn a 1st rounder on a pure rental -who they'd have no intention to keep. A simple move to help the D: put Zac Jones on 3rd pair with Schneider...and hold onto Nemeth as veteran D depth- then move him after the season.

Stutzle and Rossi
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ottawasean</b></div><div>I think this would be a coaches worst nightmare. Top 3 Cs have never taken a faceoff in AHL let alone OHL. 1 vet D, 4 rookies - one jumping from college to NHL. Its possible to happen and go well. But if it doesn’t, it could kill the teams culture. Oh and 2 unproven rookies. This is a team built to fail! (reminds me of the movie Major League).
Rossi is really strong but may end up on the wing (if Marner is a good model) in the show. He’d be an ideal set up man for a scoring C.
Why sign brown for $4M and play him on the 4th line? Why sign Tierney for $3.5M and do the same?</div></div>
this isnt really how they roll next season more like in 2 years

Wont happen but interesting idea
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Ottawasean</b></div><div>Spezza is a really good add and the Leafs should go for him - BUT - he is not a 4th line player. He has never been a D-minded guy (and has some liabilities there). Unless you aren’t putting out a checking / shut down line, he belongs on 3rd line. Gauth may not be the perfect fit but he is more of a D zone guy and faceoff guy than Spez</div></div>
The leafs dont use their 4th line as a checking line. They barely even play at 5v5. Spezza would be primarily there for pp2 and hes been extremely successful on the 4th line this season. When hes been forced to play 3c hes looked quite rough. Hes never been a great skater but hes also in his late 30s so hes not suited to play with kapanen and Engvall who are both extremely fast
