The Leafs have plenty of wingers. No need to rush him.</div></div>
The issue is that because he is so young I'm fairly certain that he is actually not eligible to play for the Marlies next season as you have to be 20 by the start of the AHL season to play there. So it's either the Leafs roster or back to the OHL which I don't think would be good for his development. He doesn't need to go back to dusting 16 to 18-year-olds in the O like he is this year he needs to get some experience playing against men to develop - I agree that the Marlies would be great for him but if he's not eligible (and I think he isn't) what's the option? Maybe pull a Matthews before his draft year and go and play in Europe (Swiss or German leagues?)

Yeah I get where you're coming from. BUT even though Fox is a great player why give yourself that headache? There are other young D who could develop into top4 who are more worth pursuing than a guy who has those kind of question marks around him. I'd go after Deangelo from NYR if we go that route. Package maybe Dermott, a high draft pick 1st or 2nd and a prospect for Deangelo.

This is actually a reported on thing Fox refuses to play for anyone other the NYR basically he refused to sign ELCs with Calgary and Carolina to be able to go to the NYR. So no way he's going to be traded.

There have been reporters speculating on him in TO, but I agree this season has shown that the Leafs aren't at the 'win a cup' stage of their development as a team which will be a hard sell to Jumbo in to town.

Huge over pay to Souperman on that contract he's been a good player for half a season and then got injured (not his fault obviously) but you don't pay a guy 2.8mil based on a half-season of work
Dumba is not the solution to what ails this team he is not defensively responsible enough, he doesn't pass the eye-test or a look at his advanced stats, he's a better version of Barrie.
Pesce I could get behind but as others have said your value is probably a bit off.

2. Why are you trading Holl and Dermott for a 7th and a 5th? Both have proven they can play in the NHL they are each worth more than late-round draft picks Dermott especially
3. No way in hell Colorado trades Makar he's far too good of an asset for the future

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ArizonaCoyotes</b></div><div>"Bottom 4 RHD". UNEDUCATED.</div></div>
I'd agree with the comment that Fox is not a top-2 Dman. He may be one day but is as of yet not. His value needs to be tempered by the fact that he is in his rookie season, players have great rookie years and then never regain that form. I think Fox has a LOT of upside but not him+Georgiev for Nylander+Sandin levels of upside.

Operating New York Nylander and Sandin
So I'm going to try to not be insulting in my reply to this ACGM.
I think that you have a bit of an over-inflated sense of the value on both Fox and Georgiev. The main reason I think your value is a little high on both these players is that neither of them are completely proven commodities yet. Proposed trades on here involving Georgiev seem to forget that we're only 60% of the way through his second full NHL season. That's a small sample size for any player and particularly so for a goalie. Georgiev is promising but not on the level that most NYR fans (and apparently the NYR management) think he is. FFS he's a career 0.913SV% and 3.02GAA that's not world-beating by any stretch. He should fetch you guys a late first/early 2nd and a B prospect. Similar problem with Fox, he's a rookie, he's having a great season don't get me wrong but that doesn't mean much. 50 games is a VERY small sample size. Also Fox has straight up refused to play for other teams he wants to be a NYR.
In this Leafs trade you're proposing to send the Leafs two good but not all star players.
Sandin I think has relatively equal value to Fox right now a highly touted rookie defender who is having a good season so far. I don't think the Leafs should trade Sandin but I'll admit a Sandin for Fox swap would be relatively fair on value. Now Nylander (inhales deeply) would be 2nd on the NYR in scoring if traded right now. Would most likely play top-line RW. A Bread Man, Z, Nylander line would be absolutely dirty so I get the want here. Nylander is also, for all the talk of his contract, on a pretty team-friendly contract. Of players on contracts worth 6.5-7.5mil (Nylander basically makes 7) he is 6th in PPG out of 30 players and is 3rd in points among the same group. He's on pace for 38 goals and 74 points and you're telling me he's worth Georgiev, really?
The value proposed in that Leafs trade is ludicrous.

Leafs Realistic Trade Deadline
I don't think Dumba is the answer to the Leafs D woes. He's more of an offensive defenceman: <a href="https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/d/dumbama01.html" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">https://www.hockey-reference.com/players/d/dumbama01.html</a>. I know some don't put loads of stock in advanced stats but those metrics don't reflect well on Dumba. His deployment in Minny seems to suggest that his coaches don't have a lot of confidence in him on the defensive side as he has a higher % of Ozone starts to Dzone starts. Dumba is another Tyson Barrie, is he good? Of course he is. But I don't think he's the right kind of player to fix the Leafs back end.

Kivihalme is a decent B prospect deals like this usually involve an 'unknown' prospect you could swap him for any other B prospect in the Leafs system.
The leafs can't trade their 2021 first until the end of this season cause it has a condition on it from their 2020 first being traded to Caroline (it is top 10 protected and slides to 2021 in that case)
Dermott is a good piece I'd say Johnsson is a pretty darn good piece too unless the Habs are looking at Kovalchuk being the long-term solution on the LW

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Why are Leafs fans so worried about Ceci? Having Barrie or Holl playing RHD is just as bad at times. That RHD threesome has played between poor and just above average all season. Foolish for anyone to suggest...although it is a common theme on CF, that the Leafs ridding themselves of Ceci solves the Leafs problems.
Personally I think the Leafs season "is lost" this year. Should the Leafs be trading away futures just to finish out of the playoffs or have a first round lose?
Last season the Leafs made the playoffs by two points. The team was weaker this year with the deletion of Gardiner, Zaitsev and Hainsey and getting inferior replacements....but necessary because of the cap.
Add to fact the Leafs have had some major injuries this season....Hyman, Dermot, Tavares, Marner, Mikheyvov, Muzzin and Reilly should Leaf management/fans really expect a better result?
DeMelo's value. From the Leafs are any team...a 2nd rounder and Timashov.</div></div>
I agree with you that removing Ceci isn't necessarily going to 'fix' anything. The reason Ceci needs to be moved is that his 4.5mil cap hit needs to be cleared to make room to bring in another player. In this particular trade Demelo and Ennis are making so little that you may be able to fenangle the cap but in most deals to bring in a good D you'd need to include Ceci to make the move make cap sense.
I agree on DeMelo's value.

1. You're right their value could probably get you a bit more.
2. In keeping them what're we going to do with them? Bracco plays in the AHL for another 4 years and never cracks the Leafs roster because he's a top-6 skill-style playmaking forward and the leafs have way more people ahead of him on the depth chart. Timashov bounces between the NHL and AHL and eventually gets picked up on waivers like Shore was.
The return may not be a lot but it's better to trade Bracco now when it is clear that he won't be making the Leafs and he still has some value. And on Timashov he wants out and to go and play somewhere where he can have a shot at 3rd line minutes or where he doesn't get bumped out of the lineup when its healthy.
You can't tell me honestly that you'd play Bracco or Timashov over anyone on the depth chart here. So why not get something in return for them.

I like Manson over Dumba. A) for the term and $$ value on him B) Dumba's underlying stats show that he's pretty run-n-gun more like Rielly.
This is a Manson trade I could live with. I'd prefer adding some futures instead of Dermott maybe the CBJ 3rd and a prospect like Duszak or Hollowell.
I don't think Campbell's the answer and it would take more than that to pull him out of LA. I'd prefer to see a trade for Stalock or that we sign Timur Bilyalov at the end of this season.

I agree that the Leafs will push to make him fit. I think it's highly unlikely Rielly is going to sign on an AAV between 6.875mil and 7.5mil. Comparables around the league: Trouba (8mil) Edler (6mil) Johnson (6mil) Myers (6mil) Seabrook (6.875) All contracts signed roughly around the time in their careers Rielly will be resigning at with similar (if even worse) results to Rielly. With the increase in the cap since those signings and with the increases that will come over the next couple seasons. Also given Rielly is making 5mil right now most players in that range of their careers with his skill level see at minimum a 2.5mil bump to their next contract. I'd say the starting point for Rielly's next contract would be 7.5. I would bet he'll be at 8mil per for 8, possibly higher if other trends around the league go that way

My structure was a little off there was saying Johnsson is proven top 9 and Bracco is worth a shot. I'd say also that NSH's needs are on offence as they have pretty good d-depth right now
