I do think people generally underestimate Boqvist's value. They forget how young he is because he's been in the NHL for 5 years. He took strides last year, especially as an athlete, and is primed to keep moving up.
<img class="for_img" src="https://i.imgur.com/vCdg6cz.jpg" alt="vCdg6cz.jpg">
It is worth noting that Dach's value did indeed go up. He remains an excellent target for CBJ. Honestly, I hope CBJ can do some work to scoop up some players in the remnants of wherever PLD goes. If that's MTL, Dach. If it's LAK, Vilardi. If it's FLA, Reinhart. Something to that effect would go a long way.

Both players being traded from CBJ are both astronomically more valuable than any player coming back.

We can get better for Peeke, especially since demand is driving up right now.
Also, Kravtsov is already signed in the KHL making him a complete non-asset.

If I'm Columbus I'm absolutely slamming this trade home.
Backlund is #1 target for me, especially if we get Carlsson. We would have to sell him on re-signing but he's a fantastic puck-transporter and fantastic defensively.
Could we get more assets for Roslovic?

I think Sam Reinhart would be perfect for CBJ. I think we'd love everything he brings and he'd be a great mentor for Kent Johnson.
I am willing to pay this price but I don't know that the org moves on from Texier at this juncture. Obviously that's pretty important for pairing with Dubois so if that's what makes it happen then I'm all for it.

Voronkov doesn't need to be waived. He does have a clause on his contract that states he can return to the KHL if he's not on the NHL roster by December.

That feels like more than the Devils payed for Meier. Would love the player on CBJ but not sure we can afford having another highly paid winger with Gaudreau/Laine on the roster.
Hayes shouldn't get a 2nd round pick. He's a W/C that makes way too much money. We already have Jack Roslovic on the roster who is younger and cheaper and on the books for less time. If Kevin Hayes is extremely cheap, CBJ is in. If not, he's not a strong upgrade. He's a middle 6 C with a high probability of declining on his current deal.
I think Boqvist can get a 1st considering Lundkvist was a worse player, same age and got a late Dallas 1st.

In no way shape or form do i beleive he should. Columbus is my second favorite team behind the sabres, i get the market and how hard it can be to retain and attract players. All I am saying that if there is a chance provy wants to leave in 2 years time then you gave up an asset who you could have 7-8 years of team control up for a guy who may not even push you over the edge into becoming a playoff team. I said the same with ottawa and debrincat which was even more egregious because it was 7 overall. I get you have to take chances but for a guy in jarmo who is very likely on his last legs if this isnt successful makes me worried for the long term outlook of the jackets as he really doesnt care about 2-3 years from now.</div></div>
A lot of it is being on this website too much.
The fatigue from seeing people throw in 3OA for anything, especially after Portzline said 3OA would only be worth Lindholm + 2nd round pick, is very real. It's easy to be agitated and there's been a lot of bad-faith stuff thrown around on the website, especially directed at CBJ.
Not that you're doing that. You seem reasonable and with legitimate interest, but it's been a lot of not that.

Jackets trade up
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Indy</b></div><div>They don't really. Their true need is a LW this year but that's an easy fix by moving Zegras over and getting a center. Its not copium because I been on the fantilli train all year but I been seeing serious discussion that Carlsson might be the better option to offset some of Zegras' weaknesses by Carlsson being better at Fantilli with puck possession and defensive soundness. At the end of the day though Duck's will choose Fantilli as Zegras at his best when is more of a facilitator playmaker that can occasionally pull off a trick shot and needs that board work that fantilli can bring but also how Fantilli can drive to the net.
Honestly Carlsson is the ideal player for the Blue Jackets at the end of the day too which is why I hope all that Smith stuff is Portzline being his usual self just stirring up **** because it amuses him. They really need a sound hockey IQ/defensive player who can drive through the neutral zone if the first line is going to be JG-Carlsson-Marchenko the next few years with Carlsson being driver through the zone and JG/Carlsson trying to set up Marchenko/Z and having Jiricek at the back of the line to protect the rush on a turnover but also delivering a long range artillery blow.</div></div>
Smith doesn't make any sense to me. I can't see a world where a scout sees something more valuable to the Blue Jackets in Smith's game than Carlsson's.
I can see Anaheim liking Carlsson partly because there's some weird smoke about Fantilli wanting to stay closer to home. He seems like he could be a big family kid especially after reading Wheeler's write-up. Feels like copium as well but you don't normally hear that kind of stuff.
Fantilli also gets bonus points for going to Michigan. Narauto is very good at developing players. Fantilli also works in the offseason with him, which is the same group as Werenski, Kyle Connor, JT Compher. Considering the layers that Werenski has added to his game since his rookie year, I think I'd be incredibly confident in projecting him to close to his ceiling.
Either way I'm hard chilling at 3 and picking either Carlsson or Fantilli.

Probably not.
CBJ just really liked Severson. They paid a 3rd to avoid competing at FA but also so they could go into the draft with a clear picture of priorities. It's a pretty specific case and I think many teams won't be looking to change their teams as much as CBJ will be at this specific draft.

I think they should stick with the pick but he just worries me that he constantly tries to speed up the rebuild. Like Ottawa in a sense and look how that worked out for them with debrincat</div></div>
I get the worry. I would have liked the 22OA but there's a lot of calculus that went into that trade.
1. There weren't many defensemen available who fit the pre-Mateychuk/Svozil window that were actually good. Provorov is certainly a risk, but as recently as 21-22 he was a top puck-mover and he's a decent cap-hit with a situationally perfect contract length.
2. There aren't many C's available this offseason for reasonable prices.
3. Cole Sillinger looked like a good player when playing with Voracek, Bjorkstrand, Nyquist, but we no longer have veterancy on the wings.
4. Jake Bean and Adam Boqvist are not reliable players in the D zone.
5. Future cap doesn't matter. Florida, Vegas, Tampa are proving that it's not <em>that</em> hard to get out of deals. Cap is going up.
3 and 4 compound to make a very difficult development environment for young players. Bean and Boqvist (and to a lesser extent even Gavrikov) struggled with too many fires to put out because we didn't have centers that could play. Sillinger tanked this last season because he didn't have defensemen that could help him get the puck out of the zone and he had to carry rookies who had played fewer games than him after injuries.
Jarmo's moves were attempts to reduce the development hurdles by 1. Now that we have Provorov and Severson it will be easier to integrate less-experienced forwards (or d partners) into the lineup without them drowning in pressure in their own zone. If we got a good, reliable middle-six center to help Chinakov, Johnson, Texier, Sillinger play their games it would be even better. It remains to be seen whether one of those is available. Hopefully an improved D corps serves as a platform for them to learn to impact the game without swimming in rookie-mistake chaos.
With 3OA we have a prospect that looks 90% certain to be a 1C in either Fantilli or Carlsson. We just have to not blow it and help further insulate players like Sillinger, Johnson, Chinakov, Marchenko with their Nyquist, Bjorkstrand, Voracek equivalents.

Jackets trade up
No sense in trading up to me, imo.
Carlsson has proven performance in his D-1 and DY. Fantilli has a monster DY. Both are insane prospects and I would have a really hard time choosing between them at #2. Instead, I rest easy knowing I don't have to make the decision and get the same value.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Salzy</b></div><div>a #4 Dman best case and a 3rd line C is great? Laughable may have been an exaggeration but saying its great is the exact same</div></div>
I generally agree with you, but do want to point out that Boqvist is a unique case. He's a 22 year old PP1 QB who is a big-volume creator in the offensive zone. He's a flawed player and I don't know that he meshes with the Duck's puck-moving style (especially with Drysdale, Zellweger, many of the other young Ducks D already in the system), so I'm not trying to belabor the point that this is an offer you have to take or anything. If he doesn't improve at all, you can envision him as a sheltered 3rd-pairing, but PP1, player on a Stanley Cup winner.
I also don't know that Anaheim has the left half-wall one-time threat that makes Boqvist a perfect fit for the powerplay. Boqvist's shot threat and passing-vision are perfect for playing next to a Laine-type. Anaheim has a lot of lefty talent for the PP already.

You've lost first name privileges with Dr. Kekalainen.
If JT Miller struggled to lock down a C spot with Vancouver, there's 0% chance he gets moved for 3OA.
Carlsson/Fantilli are about as guaranteed as prospects come.

danault facilitating a three-way trade
Definitely like the creative thought put in this, 3-ways are not at all easy to pull-off.
I agree with others, I'm not sure Danault waives his NMC but something would have to give if LA wants Dubois and his cap rumors are true.
I wish LA and CBJ could be trade partners because I like too many of LA's players and especially their D system but they just don't have any clear needs that CBJ has the assets to address. Danault would be great for CBJ, but I think we would be wise to take long looks at Vilardi or Durzi in place as well.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PuckLuck_77</b></div><div>This is certainly something different and has some thought put into it.
But I sincerely doubt that Danault waives his NMC for Columbus, and I don't think PLD for Danault is what the Kings want to do for the way they play the game. LA lives off of their defensive forwards, and Danault has been the only one that's been able to consistently hold McDavid at least on Earth when he's not paired with Draisaitl. Kopitar, through no fault of his own since age waits for no man, can't keep up with McDavid. And I don't trust PLD to be the guy that goes against 97 in a long series. Not at all.</div></div>
For what it's worth, CBJ used PLD in that role against Tampa and Toronto in the covid play-ins/offs. He won the Matthews matchup and held his own despite carrying either Texier or Foudy as rookies against Tampa. Dubois struggles with motivation but seemed to really get up for those matchups and showed what he could really be. I don't know that I would trade that for the consistent lock-down that Danault brings but he can certainly match up in the way the LA likes.

Retool no picks acquired
Personally, I do not do this if I'm CBJ.
Lindholm is a great player and you have to give to get, sure. But Marchenko, and to a lesser extent Sillinger, are important stylistic building blocks of the team going forward. Marchenko is the only skilled player that can play along the wall and bring pucks to the middle. He's disruptive and a talented goal-scorer. We don't have any more of those on the roster unless you are a massive fan of Texier.
Sillinger, while certainly rushed to the NHL, failed last year because he didn't have a strong supporting cast and he's primarily an off-puck player. He succeeded with veteran wings like Nyquist, Bjorkstrand and Voracek. If we are strong on the wings, he's exactly what we'll be looking for in 2 years time when we need secondary offense to push forward in the contention window. It's possible we move him for a player as talented as Lindholm but not in combination with another "young-core" player like Marchenko.

Beans
Bean's had a rough go in Columbus. I think fans are overly harsh on him because he doesn't fit the model of a normal defenseman.
He shows eager engagement and his skating is a real weapon. He was one of the more effective entry defenders on Columbus but struggled under the weight of Columbus' awful breakouts under Brad Larsen. The same system that got Gavrikov pilloried by the public only for him to look like a game changer in LA. This past year he looked a bit better at moving the puck up ice and especially took charge with carries in the neutral zone. Unfortunately he was injured just after being given the top-role after Werenski's injury.
Bean has had to play on his off-side above his head(on a pair with Werenski), been anchored to Erik Gudbranson or injured.
His injury history is not pretty and has come at a very critical time in his development. He's in a make or break spot with Columbus but on a better coached team I could see him making some headway. He'll never be a crease clearer but his feet are an asset he can use to be disruptive in the neutral zone.

You can pry Denton Mateychuk from my cold dead hands.
He's theoretically "available" in the sense that we'd move him before Jiricek if it got a perfect player for us, but we spent some high capital on him and he looks like the perfect defenseman to pair with Jiricek in the future. They look like they were made to play together. I think K'Andre Miller would be one of the few players worth trading him for
I'd love Lindholm and would take a risk on Markstrom but we'd have to find some more peripheral assets.
