Dahlin and Nylander are not going anywhere and that is not even enough for Dahlin and Nylander anyway

Dahlin's value is much greater than Hughes IMO. D men like him don't come around often. Plus, BUF already has a RHD man that can't play D!

So, Hughes/Kakko + Barrie for Nylander (hasn't proven much) and Dahlin isn't enough? Fans overrate theyre own players too much.

Ekblad was 1st overall too and was supposed to be on Seth Jones' level right now

To get Dahlin (just Dahlin), you would likely need to start with MacKinnon and Ott's 1st and then you would need to add (probably rantanen). The kid is that good.

My point is mainly that is not enough for Dahlin he is untouchable as for Nylander he is only 21 he still has a high ceiling but could be traded

Everyone knows Dahlin is a superstar. You are trying to argue Ekblad for the sake of arguing. Nobody ever called Ekblad a generational talent.

Dahlin alone is worth more than that, if you want to do a Buf/Col Dahlin and Nylander trade, the avalanche would have to give up mackinnon and Rantanen.

Dahlin isn't worth Mackinnon. Id consider Rantanen for Dahlin but it would take me a long time to decide

Dahlin will hit 40 points as an 18 year old in the NHL. Here's the list for other 18 year old D-man to hit the 40 point marker: Housley, Orr. That's it. I don't think you understand just how much you are undervaluing Dahlin.

Dahlin is in the top quintile in just about every advanced metric tracked for Defensemen in the league period (not even counting the fact that he is only 18!). Keep in mind, he is doing this on an absolutely PUTRID sabres team.

He's also on his rookie deal, and under team control for essentially the next 7 years. So basically if you are trading for him, pretend you are trading for McDavid; because that's the category he is in and that's the type of value he provides to his team (now and for many years to come).

Dahlin is worth same a mcdavid minimum, Dahlin is 18 putting up unheard of numbers, Buf would be stupid to trade him for just Mackinnon, let alone just Rantanen

Dahlin's not available in pretty much any circumstance. He just might be the most valuable D in the entire league.

I wouldnt do either deals to be honest.

Love Dahlin, but Avs have Makar coming too and to be honest I would rather see a roster of Hughes/Kakko (if the pick is coming that way) Barrie moved for another forward to make room room Makar vs the Sabres trade. I just think its simlier for the Avs to keep the pick and move barrie for a top 6 forward.

I wouldnt move Jost and Z for Drouin... THey need Z and cant give up on Jost yet. I am not a fan of Drouin, hes a lazy defnsive player that is one dimensional. Great offesnive talent but gets heat in Tampa about his attitude....now getting run out of town in Montreal bc of how poor he is playing in their playoff push. Wouldnt touch him with a 10 foot pole right now bc I think headaches follow him wherever he goes

LOL at this trade...Last year it was polled that Dahlin is the 2nd most valuable asset IN THE LEAGUE behind McDavid.

Dahlin is proving to be a 1D at the age of 18.

A COL trade for Dahlin begins with the 1st and MacKinnon.

You also need to think positional scarcity. It's much harder to get a top level D talent on an ELC than any other position IMO.

As for as stats go, Dahlin's Rookie year is almost identical to Bobby Orr in terms of points...and even era adjusted points Dahlin(40 EAP) is only 4 behind Orr(44 EAP) and 13 behind Housley (53 EAP).

This is an interesting idea. It's not really all that realistic, but we can certainly discuss. I don't think BUF does the trade. AND I actually don't think they would take it even just Dahlin. Everyone here is talking about Dahlin vs Hughes. Dahlin is proven Hughes has played zero games in the NHL. You don't trade a proven #1OA for a non-proven #1OA. end of story. To me the more interesting part is that BUF has ZERO need for Barrie. BUF already has an offensive forward that lacks defensive ability in Risto. So what role would Barrie be playing? He's NOT going to be the PP quarterback. He's NOT going to be on the PK. What's his purpose on the team? Google "Tyson Barrie defense" and you'll find AVEs fans saying things like

"Barrie’s defensive style as skating backward way ahead of the rushing opponent and ineffectually waving his stick." OR

"Tyson, how hard would it be to work with a defensive coach and improve your defense? I’m sure the Avs would get you anyone you wanted that they could swing. I’m sure little Sam Girard — because size doesn’t have to be a detriment to playing good defense — could offer you some pointers. (He plays better defense without a stick than Barrie does regularly.) OR

"FOR THE LOVE OF HOCKEY, KEEP THE PUCK IN THE ZONE DURING THE POWER PLAY!!!. I’m not responsible for my words if Barrie continues to stand at the blue line while the pucks skitters past him within reach."
