imo the Blackhawks have so many options at 3rd. Cozens/Dach/Byram are who I'd choose from. They could move down as well I think.

OR they should trade it for Taylor Hall with a extension. Wonder if NJD/CHI would do something like that.

Yeah.... like taking the Russian who’s already signed in the KHL? That would be smart...

He's got to figure out if he wants to take a chance with Podo ... or go a safer bet with their needs by selecting someone out of the top 3... like MTL did with KK.

I can absolutely see him taking Podkolzin and screwing us, but let's not think about that.

We've drafted Toews and Savard at 3rd overall before, but also Cam Barker. We'll see what happens.

Was just going to say basically your exact first sentence. I think he will take one of those Canadians, and may move down to get them. Byram and Boqvist, the Bee line. Would be pretty awesome!

Am I worried? Nope. Bowman's Hawks are notoriously great drafters. They've been picking great talent even without draft lottery picks, they aren't going to mess up a #3 pick.

Bowman and Mark kelly have been great at drafting and developing overall through their tenure (top 5 in the league) not worried.

No matter who they select they have better odds of being a full time player than where they should have selected at like 12 or what have you.

Positive of that trade: If we miss the playoffs we are guaranteed Lafrenierre due to Hall's uncanny draft luck.

Negative: trading the 3rd would suck for this season

Cozens and Dach both look great, don't get me wrong, but Chicago is already loaded at Center (Toews, Strome, Anisimov covers the 3rd line well enough) and they'd REALLY be reaching for Byram. Definitely a tough pick to make for the Hawks.

they could draft one of those guys and play them at wing. Or trade down to draft Byram and get an extra pick. IDK at that stage of the draft, trading down is really risky. You might as well draft the guy you really like. Reason why MTL took KK. No point of chancing that.

no Byram, Hawks are super deep on D prospects

Well, both Cozens and Dach are listed as Center-Wings, so there you go. The question is do you want a fast power forward like Cozens or a big bodied playmaker like Dach?

I feel like trading down for Byram is risky. I get that you guys need LHDs now, but I think you have to draft the most talented guy on the board, then fill in the blanks on the roster as they come up.

Yes and it terrifies me. Take Dach or Turcotte, they'll be studs too.

Plenty of depth with D prospects, but there isn't any LHD in the Hawks farm that I see as potentially top pairing. You guys have Boqvist, but he shoots right. Need someone to compliment him. Not saying you use the 3rd Overall pick to fill that need, but stocking up on more LHD wouldn't hurt the Hawks.

Just one of the many options the Hawks have. I think they end up taking Dylan Cozens. He probably could step right into the NHL next season, especially when gets protection from Toews and Strome. That'd be 3 deep for sure.

I'd rather take Dach, he is a complete player and a power forward with good 2way play, strong on puck too. Great size, Hawks really don't have a player like that. He is not super fast, but fast enough, and with so many players on the hawks team that can finish, his superb passing ability is way more important than his speed.

How did CHI move up that much and guarantee a top 3 pick? Same thing with Philly and Patrick but I just never looked into it more
