I’m not going to lie I think Pitts kinda overreacted on this one. I think with the way this year has gone it’s best to not make whole sale changes over. I do understand that they underachieved expectations and the window isn’t open as wide as a few years ago so more pressure on the now. This has just been a very strange year maybe replacing one sends the same message that this years results isn’t acceptable.

Well the normal pens route of bringing up AHL coaches likely won't work with Vellucci, unless Sully gets fired at least, idk much about Forrest or Skalde tho, if either could fill in

I remember Reirden used to coach Pens PP & they were consistently amongst the best in the league. He’ll most likely be working with the D as well.

Boudreau’s teams have also dominated possession, shots & chances arm 5v5.

The thing is it's not just about this season. They were beaten by a weaker team 2 years in a row without putting up much of a fight. That's why they reacted the way they did.

Would Rierden/Boudreau/gallant/Vellucci accept a lesser assistant coach role? can PIT get former head coaches like them to be just assistants? do yo think there would be conflict with HCMS?? and was sully behind these firings? or GMJR?
@Capitalfail67 @MitchMarnerElite and anyone else??
thoughts??

Someone is going to pick up a good coach in Gonchar.
The rest of them who cares.
I don't see the point of firing every assistant if you aren't going to fire the head coach too. You are basically saying there is a problem here.
I'm sure it has to do with his contract running to 22-23.
He should go though. He shouldn't be there.

agree. Sully is next if they start slow next year or longest if they are out in first round or miss playoffs...IMHO

The Gonchar thing is interesting...I view it as...the other two are going...so we might as well fire him too...just sends a bigger message when all three are gone....maybe. but I saw nothing wrong with him. I was already contemplating firing the other 2...

idk I think he had a big role in getting Marino to where he is right now, wouldn't hurt just to resign him
