Will Tyler Johnson get claimed

Created by: BulinWall
Team: 2020-21 Tampa Bay Lightning
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 7, 2020
Published: Oct. 9, 2020
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Pretty ruthless move by Brisebois if he doesn’t but Im assuming he did it because there are teams (or a team) interested but aren’t on Johnson’s list of teams he’d waive to. So this is Brisebois’ way of getting around that. Brisebois really getting his feet wet as a GM now.

Also they trying to shop Couburn who also has a NTC

Probably, it's likely he was willing to waive to a place but that team didn't want to spend the assets to get him, nor did Tampa want to pay assets to move him. The team that is first to claim him probably knew before hand that Johnson would be waived

I don't know.
I think people who think moving players is easy haven't been paying attention.
It looks like last ditch effort to me. Despiration.
If I am a team looking to OS a TB player, I'm doing it now.

5 mil for for 30+ yo players for 4 years seems like a stretch for teams to want in this market. You can pick up better for that on the open market.

I actually mentioned this a while back that Brisebois could send him to waivers and I remember some people thought that I was stupid for saying that. Desperate times call for desperate measures and so here we are. Brisebois did what he had to do. It's not pretty but the situation called for it.

Yea you’re probably right. It’s not too risky to pick him cause you can just expose him to Seattle. He’s not washed there just wasn’t a proper fit in Tampa anymore since Point and Cirelli emerged

I think Buffalo might be in the market for him. More remotely, Edmonton.

Ruthless move to fend off the ruthless poachers who have likely already sent offer sheets to our RFAs.

It’s funny cause I’m pretty sure teams sent them to Point as well but he hard passed on them. No one wants to leave Tampa unless forced like Johnson cause the teams a perineal Stanley cup contender, the weathers great and the tax situation is ideal

Yzerman will claim him, We need a 2C for one year and then he's peddled off to Seattle next summer.

I agree. They will put him at 2c he will produce snd SY trades him at the deadline for a high pick.

Same here, I said look for Johnson to be put on waivers if BriseBois can't move him. Only problem is if he doesn't get claimed Tampa is still screwed cap wise.

Technically he's not gone if he doesn't get claimed, But i'm pretty sure BriseBois feels he will get claimed or he wouldn't have waived him.

He'll be easier to trade once he clears waivers.

BriseBois well need to face facts, That he will need to add a sweetener to move Johnsons contract.
