I think WPG wins this deal solely because I think Dubois stays longer. Dubois on the 2nd line is SCARY for WPG and the rest of the Canadian division should lookout.

However I do think Laine will do well in CBJ which is surprising to say. He becomes their number one man - no one else; and I think he’ll actually do well (but if there’s Torts Laine fireworks I’m all for it lol).

I think jackets won asset wise but jets won getting the c.

Only reason jets win this is because they have Perfetti coming up. Laine is better than Dubois so they loose skill wise

I didn’t say Dubois is less/more talented. If anything somehow CBJ pulled out two players when Laine - Dubois was already a fair swap (Ik the third was kinda for Jack but still CBJ got a better return).

So WPG obviously doesn’t get the better deal; but I believe this will work for them plus if they utilize the depth they gain; they can run PS on the third for a playoff run.

It was a bad trade for Columbus. You can’t win with Max Domi as your 1C. Just ask Montreal. But at least they had a 2C and 3C. Columbus has Alex Texier. Who isn’t bad but shouldn’t be your 2C. I think they gave up the best player as well. Jack Roslovic kind of balances the talent though IMO. Winnipeg can now roll 3 lines that look something like this
Connor-Scheifele-?
Ehlers-Dubois-?
Wheeler-Stastny-?
Looks pretty lethal to me. Maybe plug in Copp, Lowry, Vesalainen, Perreault on the empty spots. I like this trade for Winnipeg a lot better than Columbus

Columbus will likely roll a multiple line system. Their wings are stacked so they can handle whoever down the middle and spread their depth.

Well Max Domi was never our 1C. He was second to Danault for his whole time in Montréal.

IMO, Laine is the better player, but his position isn’t great for CBJ. I think It’s sort of a lose-lose. CBJ gets weaker at the 2nd most important position, and Winnipeg gives up the better player, who also happens to be needed more by them. It’s just unfortunate for both teams that they had no choice but to make a trade.

It’s definitely not great for either team. Doesn’t make much sense at all. I personally think Dubois>Laine and that Laine is criminally overrated.
Domi worked pretty tandem with Danault, did he not? No defined 1C, but two top six centres

The Danault line was getting all of the tough matchups, against the other team’s top lines. The Domi line was basically an all-offense line, and they were sheltered quite a bit.
