I don't think a fair trade for Connor McDavid exists. This would be one of the least bad trades.

I personally don't think Dallas as any combination of assets in their org to fetch McDavid. A team like Colorado could make an overpay offer like MacKinnon + Makar + Byram

Even if this isn’t enough we also have Jason Robertson, who could win the Calder this year.

None of these players/prospects are bad, they're very valuable but we are dealing with a 24 year old Art Ross/Hart/Rocket tier centre.

I wouldn't trade McDavid anything less than the biggest trade of NHL history. Even then it would be a tough pill to swallow.

The guy is just a generational talent with a skillset which might not be seen for years or even decades to come.

I know. But think about having an elite top 10 d-man, who led his team to the Stanley cup finals, a fast, strong and good two way centre, who is 11th in PPG while playing injured, a 9.20 SV% rookie goalie, a top two and maybe even Calder winner in Jason Robertson and a 1st round pick in a very strong draft.

Draft is deep but wouldn't say strong. There isn't a gamebreaker available and plus the pick will be a mid range one. Hieskanen is a great asset but can all of them combined replace the production of McDavid? This is just considering on ice production, what about the millions of lost revenue in losing the face of the league.

I also forgot to mention the 11 million dollars in cap space available. With these players and the cap space they got to spend they could maybe win the cup, which in result would sell a lot of tickets because they would be the first Canadian team to win the cup in a long time. As I said Hintz isn’t as good as McDavid and not close to him, but he has a 96 point pace while playing injured, Heiskanen’s production would go up with this system to approximately a 50-60 point in the regular season and in the playoffs a point per game pace, JRob would have a point per game pace and they’d get a good and young starting goalie who could average a 9.20 SV% and up.

Also McDavid is averaging a 140 point pace currently.

I think your post is a bit unfair, cause even the poll just says “is this a good return” when saying “is this a fair return” makes more sense.

Cause do I think this is a good return for Connor? No because there isn’t a trade that makes sense for Mcdavid unless it’s like Eichel + Dahlin + 1st LOL.

Can only imagine McDavid being dealt if he wants to leave EDM.
Which, I guess, could happen if he (a) wins a cup there or (b) marries an actress

I honestly think Dallas says no. I know it’s McDavid and I know he’s amazing, but it’s one guy. How bad would this trade look if he got hurt? Hintz is no McDavid but he’s been a legit 1C this year. Then you’re adding a franchise defenseman, future starting goalie, and a first round pick? It’s just too much for one guy. And assuming Miro signs for 7ish million you aren’t saving any cap space

I've said it before and I'll say it again. There is NO trade that involves McDavid that is a win-win. It's just not possible. He is the single best player in the universe and will be easily one of the 3 best of all time when all is said and done. To give the amount of assets it would take for ANY team to get him, would not be worth it, because they would be left with nothing around him and an empty cupboard, while conversely, the Oilers would have just, well... TRADED THE BEST PLAYER IN THE FREAKING UNIVERSE.

It just doesn't make sense, for anyone, anywhere. Funny enough, the only team that even has the assets to do it, is the LA Kings and I think Edmonton remembers all too well how that ended for them the last time they traded the best player in the universe to LA.

I know that last one is hyperbole but right now COL wouldn’t trade MacKinnon for McDavid straight up.

Did Peter Pocklington make this deal? There is no way this is happening, even for cash, McDavid would never be dealt for that
