2021 Playoffs Discussion Thread

So I did some digging, and since the 2013-14 season, this is Montréal’s record in the playoffs with Carey Price in net, separated into the amount of goals that the habs scored in each game:

3+ Goals: 23-1
2 Goals: 5-6
1 Goal: 2-8
0 Goals: 0-6

So it confirms what we already know Price can't carry teams by himself, he needs scoring help

Obviously. My main point is that if Montréal can score just 3 goals, that’s good enough to win nearly every night with Price in net. Plus the 45% win percentage when scoring 2 goals is crazy.

Anyone notice how the habs not only shut down Matthews/Marner/Nylander, but they also shut down Connor/Ehlers/Wheeler???

The habs defence is what’s winning series for them

And like the leafs and Sheldon Keefe, the Jets and Paul Maurice failed to adapt to Montreal’s stingy game and still threw the same strategy at the habs, who knew exactly how to counter it

And who knew that Staal, and so many players us fans hated/weren't doing too good would be good in the playoffs ( except Tatar )

Now there’s a blast from the past. (And by the past I mean 2 years ago) What a legend. The Montréal Canadiens are the only team in NHL history to beat this guy, and he still posted 41 saves against them.

And in his first NHL game he let in 5 goals on 24 shots to Detroit and still won the game.

He’s been a healthy scratch since Evans got back from injury in Game 6 against Toronto. He would’ve been a healthy scratch in game 3, but Eric Staal got injured in practice, and he was kept in the lineup for 2 more games because of Lehkonen’s injury.

He’s not in the lineup because he’s had no goals and only 3 assists in his last 17 games, because players like Lehkonen & Evans are great defensive players as well as being just as dangerous (if not more so) than Tatar offensively as of late. It’s a sad end to a few great years in Montréal for Tatar, but I definitely can’t blame Ducharme for making the decision to scratch him.


Who replaced Evans in the Winnipeg series?

They should do the exact same trade again. Laine back to WPG for Dubois lol.
