The Islanders are a tough bunch. However, Florida was the only team that truly had me wondering if we were going to prevail. Huberdeau and Barkov were the best individual players I'd say we faced this run. Florida as a whole felt like they were the only team that could almost score at will against Vasy anywhere on the ice.

100%, Florida will be the biggest threat to Tampa next year.
Not because other teams suck or aren’t as good; but Tampa could see Florida within the first two rounds, and they’re gonna be amazing this season if they play things correctly (especially if they add some more weapons/ depth).

We could easily see one of Coleman or Hyman end up in Florida (maybe even Goodrow). Id like them make sure they keep Nuutivara

lol r/hockey is all hot and bothered about kucherovs comments.

Hockey seriously needs more off the cuff trash talk. Showed more personality and character in one interview than any useless fourth line grinder did when getting into a board battle and casually interfering with someone.

Montreal or Toronto would have to pay Kucherov 15m+ to pay him what Tampa pays him. Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. Bittman will never do anything to benefit the Canadian Teams though.

Now this I will agree with

I argue that the NHL should implement a unified tax system outside of provincial or state taxes. Money of course still goes to respected governments and jurisdictions but this will prevent players from mostly choosing places with low taxes

Cause lets be real if Toronto offered Stamkos 10.5x7 on open market how much was Kucherov realistically getting. I say more than Mcdavid

I will just say this: I don't think players are just looking for money ... yes, it's a part of it, but I think the main reason players want as much money as possible is to feel like they are valued by the team signing them.

I think this offseason were gonna see a bunch of 1 year 3-4mill deals for UFA's minus a few notable names (i.e. hamilton)

That gives teams assurance for next years cap and will probs continue until the cap goes up.

So expect Hoffman, Granlund, and Haula deals to become the standard till we see the cap go up. Heck we could see a Hall deal also occur 1 year big money

That's legally not allowed to do. Tampa is legally allowed to do it because the NHL let's them. Yzerman is an amazing GM and he will turn Detroit into a Dynasty, but 0% state tax is definitely a big advantage. Bonus's have to do with the owners, not the team.

Where are the facts to back up this statement? For all I know, TB is paying less money for its star players than Canadian teams do, and it has nothing to do with the negociation prowesses or the roster building skills of the GM.

Go look at how Matthews, Marner and Tavares’ contracts are structured. No other team has players with those types of contracts. Its MLSE but that’s still unfairness and only one team can do that (maybe NYR), compared to the no state tax where other teams like Arizona and Nashville have it and it’s not like FAs are taking discounts there or they’re winning cups every year.

Every guy on the leafs has a commercial even Mikheyev. That’s one of their strengths

Why are fans so brain dead? $18M oVeR. First of all, 8 of those millions aren’t being used and secondly if your team is willing to risk sacrificing your best player for the ENTIRE season to be better come playoff time, be my guest. Most teams wouldn’t make the playoffs, therefore, this doesn’t happen. The Lightning are the best team in the league. Plain and simple. Not to mention they won the cup $9M under the cap last year because of the Stamkos injury. Doesn’t matter who’s there or who isn’t, they’ll find a way. They probably still win the Cup without Kuch considering they did it without Stammer last year. I get Kuch>Stammer but I’m just sick of brain dead idiots saying $18M oVeR

Fun fact: The Tampa Bay Lightning were the first team in NHL History to win the Stanley Cup twice in 11 months span.

I think you mean within 11 months, since there’s probably a lot of teams that have won it in a handful less than 365 days.

In that span they’ve played 56 regular season games and 48 playoff games.

They'd have to win it twice in 365 days

I know. For example the Pens won in 2016 on June 12th, and 2017 on June 11th, 364 days later.

Just changed it to 11 months. I didn't think of other teams that completed back to backs just a few days off so thanks for pointing that out. They still hold the record for the two quickest cups in a row, though.
