Do the Rangers bridge him or try for an 8 year deal?

I'd lock him up straight away, the dude is in his early 20s and plays like a 30 year old

I'm curious has any D on an ELC won Norris before?

The NHL finally got something right, I was scared they’d give it to Hedman for being good for a long time. Fox definitely deserved it this year. I’m glad Fleury got the Vezina as well, it’s rare the NHL gets anything right but I’m happy with all 5 awards given out today (the two for McDavid and Calder to Kaprizov were kinda no-brainers though lol)

I don’t think so. But I could be wrong. None come to mind right away.

Erik Karlsson 2011-12

Pre injuries and pre death of his son EK65 was something else.

Like I think he's top 3 in transition ever, along with perhaps Lindstrom and Orr

Orr if they had ELCs back then. If not, the other guy would be Karlsson in 2011/12 at 21 years old on his ELC

Erik Karlsson 2011-12

At his prime he was an absolute beast.

Can recall during the 2012-13 lockout year when EK played here in Finland and I saw couple of his games. Easily the best player I've ever seen play live.

Lmao what? They didn’t give it to Karlsson over Doughty that one year cuz Karlsson doesn’t make the playoffs. And now Fox wins it without the playoffs. That’s really not fair

Thinking we lock him up next year 8 years by $8-8.5 mil, hopefully. Maybe he saves us a little, but not sure.

It might depend what Makar and Miro get, but 8x8 would be a solid deal IMO

Why though, it's not like he wants to play anywhere else. Might as well save cap space in the short term

According to the rules the post season isn't supposed to be a factor.

I doubt any of them pushes past $10 mil on an 8 year deal. Maybe $9-9.5 mil max. Teams can’t keep paying guys double digits and expect to contend with the flat cap.

But you’re supposed to be a leading your team to the playoffs to win a Norris. Karlsson got robbed like 3 times

Yeah he shoulda had the 2014, 2016, and 2017 Norris trophies too. EK65 was beyond goated for well over half a decade

I wouldn’t say snubbed.. he just wasn’t as good as the 3 nominees. Weegar is still amazing and might be the guy in the near future
