This has to go down as one of the worst trades ever. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, but looking back, it seems that they should have known better. When I broke down the trade in 2021, I figured it made sense for Vancouver only if OEL at 12% retained was a neutral or positive asset, but if you look at the comments made at the time of the trade, most people thought he was a negative asset even then. Even if Vancouver thought he might return to form with a change of scenery, they should have realized that it was a huge gamble to take at his age and cap hit. I know they were desperate to get rid of the $12M 1-year cap hit, but they actually would have been better off just buying those three guys out.
