They potentially could've considered that they need a scoring winger and taken Laine instead. He was touted extremely high in 2016 as well. But probably not.

I mean move Draisaitl to Matthews wing and Eichel is the 2c if the scenario plays out and thats pretty good as Draisaitl I feel is a more effective wing at times

In the end Rielly basically did what Muzzin did 2 years ago. Took less than his market value to stay. Both are regarded as team leaders even though one wears an "A" more so than the other, and both contribute heavily to the leafs blue line. Only diff is hes here for an extra 4 years and has been with the team longer. But in the end both took discounts to stay

So if anything the team discount thing one could argue is all thanks to Spezza
