My Guess As To Who Gets Traded When The Top Line Gets Healthy

Created by: Bbpagewolf
Team: 2021-22 Vegas Golden Knights
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 9, 2021
Published: Nov. 9, 2021
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
When that top line is healthy most likely before the playoffs, we know trades will be happening and I’m willing to bet that a top paid forward like Dadonov or Smith is one of those players. I’m also willing to bet that in each trade they make, the returns they get will be minimal and even after everything, they’re gonna be right up against the cap once again.

Detroit is not a trade partner for Dadonov.

I’m not sure where Janmark would fit in the oilers roster but it’s worth being interested.

Heh. Nobody's paying a 2nd for Dadonov. Moving cap is likely going to cost Vegas because everyone knows their pickle, and most everybody has no love for them.

Or they just wait until the playoffs to Activate Eichel. Then do some overhauling in the off-season.

Or they wait till the off-season.

Let Smith walk, play their cards right. Boom! 22-man roster.

Or trade Dadonov, resign Smith for cheaper than his previous contract.

But I doubt any moves are made before the off-season. Eichel just won’t come back before playoffs.

Eichel is trying to be back in time to play in the Olympics in February. If he does, there is no way VGK can keep him on LTIR until the playoffs start.

I’d prefer to keep Bemstrom.

At best, he can be a slight improvement over Patrick. At worst, it’s a lateral move for CBJ - injury riddled, mildly disappointing F prospect for injury riddled, mildly disappointing F prospect.

Pro-rated $2M expiring contract makes Janmark a very attractive TDL option. He'd be a significant upgrade over Perlini, Benson, Shore, and Turris. Although a better wing, he has potential to be a bottom 6 centre who can add scoring depth.

Your talking about upgrading over guys who rotate between press box and very limited 4th line roles. That’s the issue I’m running into. As interested as I’d be especially at that cost need to ask myself is the small but addition extra salary added going to prevent a more significant upgrade option? It’s a very good deal value wise hard to pass up just not sure it’s currently a suitable target.

Detroit is a trade partner for anyone at this point. They have the cap, they’re competitive right now, and they could use another good top 9 forward. They’ll do it if it makes sense.

They're not taking on 5m for 2 years, for a declining almost 33 year old. Unless you pay us to take him, Detroit is not a trade partner for him.

Also, "Detroit is a trade partner for anyone" is a joke. They have one of the best pipelines in the NHL and are making massive strides.
