So as I'm continuing to re-scout players, I can say that Nemec, Slafkovsky and Miroshnichenko will most likely fall, Nemec not sure how to explain it, may just be that I like some other player's game more, same for Slafkovsky, Miroshnichenko has some big concerns, he has a great shot, good skating, he's physical and good upside, however, his consistency, effort off the puck and his defence needs help, Cooley will definitely move up.

I’ve never realized this, but does Russia only take player playing in Russia to the WJC? None of Petrov, Chayka or Kuznetsov even received an invite

Germany is without Reichel and Peterka, probably their best players. Germany wanted them to develop, both probably could make the World Cup team lol.

Seems odd to me… Russia could still make a run even without those 3 guys I named earlier though. Kind of a stacked team

Xavier Bourgault just named the QMJHL player of the week with 5 goals and 4 assists in 3 games, now has 42pts in 24 games

Josh Roy and Xavier Simoneau are also high on the QMJHL scoring list i think, no idea how Roy fell to the 5th

I would like to present a bit of an updated ranking *note this is everyone I've currently re-scouted so if you think I'm missing a name, it's coming most likely*

( my ranking, name, average per my formula )
1. Shane Wright (1)
2. Joakim Kemell (5.63)
3. Matt Savoie (4.9)
4. Logan Cooley (6.18)
5. Danila Yurov (6.9)
6. Simon Nemec (5.63)
7. Juraj Slafkovsky (5.81)
8. Rutger McGroarty (15.2)
9. Conor Geekie (9.18)
10. David Jiricek (10.8)
11. Ivan Miroshnichenko (8.81)
12. Brad Lambert (8.18)
13. Ryan Chesley (19.9)
14. Frank Nazar (14.3)
15. Seamus Casey (19.33)
16. Isaac Howard (19.81)
17. Liam Ohgren (24.88)
18. Noah Ostlund (18.92)
19. Jonathan Lekkerimaki (19.05) *The line of Ohgren-Ostlund-Lekkerimaki is a good line and they're all following each other lol, I guess the line is very balanced*
20. Denton Mateychuk (22.72)
21. Ty Nelson (20.71)
22. Elias Salomonsson (20.4)
23. Nathan Gaucher (23.25)
24. Filip Mesar (23.95)
25. Marco Kasper (24.05)
26. Tristan Luneau (20.5) *Of course, the closer you are to the bottom of my list, the higher the risk you have of falling when I re-scout others*

I still can not believe Ottawa drafted Tyler Boucher 10th OA, the guy has 3 pts in 16 games and is also -6, and Cole freaking Sillinger was the next pick

List is a hell of a lot longer than that lol.

To make matters worse for them, even if you accept their flawed notion that they should make a huge reach on a player because he fits the identity they're trying to build, they still whiffed. Not to make this about the Leafs, but look at Matthew Knies, similar brand of player to Boucher in terms of having the size, tenacity, and physicality, but the rest of his toolkit far surpasses that of Boucher, and their results since the Draft have been incomparable.

So not only were they wrong, they were wrong in their wrongness.

I had Boucher around 70 lol, other surprising picks were Nollan Allan, Stillman, Johnston, McTavish ( hasn't aged as bad as i thought yet ) and Mailloux

Lol, yeah, I wasn't sold on the Leafs taking him at 57, so it was pretty shocking to see him gone at 10.

If Reichel and Peterka don't get loaned, it looks like this will be the Florians vs. the world lol, Elias and Bugl are the most notable players who will likely be the 1C and starting goalie and tasked with carrying this team. Tbh Glotzl is the only other name on this squad I've even heard of (I think he did okay last tournament, big defenseman). I wonder if we'll see someone step up, Germany's developed into a pretty decent hockey nation.

I’m pretty sure Munzenberger and Quapp are the only drafted players on that team ( if Peterka and Reichel don’t play )

CBJ Prospect Spotlight, Episode 5

Ben Boyd
Center
Drafted: 2021, 6th round (165th overall)
Current Status: Reserve List (Rights expire June 1st, 2023)

-Most of the film i found of him is fights. He's one tough bird that hits like a truck.

-He's pretty competent on defense, too. Last year he had a +/- of +6 in 35 games.

-He has a very accurate and speedy shot, and spends a lot of time in front of the net to redirect shots.

-He's currently on pace for 24 points this season in Charlottetown. Not much, but he's not a very big point-scorer.

Final thoughts: His play reminds me of Boone Jenner a bit. Their frames are very similar (Boone is an inch shorter, but three pounds heavier). Strength, hitting, skating and shot accuracy are strong points in both of their games. The only thing inconclusive about Boyd is his leadership (he hasn't gotten any captain roles at all). He could be a good Bottom 6er on a checking line.

Sounds like a bit of a Brian Boyle enforcer type. Sounds like a pretty decent 4th line agitator

Edit: Wow those sentences i wrote sound stupid when read aloud. oh well

I hope the leagues gonna regret not drafting Florian Elias. I really hope he signs a nice undrafted ticket sooner rather than later/ he proves everyone wrong - can’t see why not even a 7th was used on him when some scouts slapped him in the 40-100 zone both his years:

Yeah he was my big sleeper last draft. If anyone’s interested in doing some really fringe scouting, my top 3 late round flier options were Florian Elias (undrafted), Simon Knak (I believe he went to the Preds in the 6th, captained Switzerland at last year’s WJC), and Owen Bartoszkiewicz (undrafted, he’s a goalie out of the NAHL which is one tier below the USHL, they don’t produce many draftees as a league but a couple goalies have come out of there, like Ben Bishop, and Calgary drafted last year’s 2nd best NAHL goalie in the 7th round, OB didn’t put up quite as good numbers, but from what I heard he essentially dragged an expansion team to the playoffs which is pretty notable). After Elias’s incredible showing at the WJC and then taking home rookie of the year in the DEL it’s kinda mind-boggling that nobody took a chance on him even though he was a 1 year overager. I was especially disappointed in Ottawa not taking him after the chemistry he showed with Stutzle (admittedly playing with Stutzle in the NHL would mean he’d need to become a top line centre, which is probably too much, but Ottawa has a good development system and might be able to turn him into a useful pkayer, he’s got a high skill level). If he goes undrafted again I might lose my mind, he seems like the perfect guy to take a flier on late with a low percentage pick. At the very least he’s shown that he can produce against his peers and hold his own against men despite his size.
