Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
More trades to come. Have to lower the cap.
Trades
COL
  1. Price, Carey ($3,000,000 retained)
  2. Toffoli, Tyler ($1,500,000 retained)
  3. Weber, Shea
MTL
  1. Barron, Justin
  2. Bowers, Shane
  3. Compher, J.T.
  4. Francouz, Pavel
  5. 2023 1st round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
Weber's 7MM offsets the 7MM for Price for the next 5 seasons. That make this a 3MM Price for 5. Pavel is goood but not a playoff goalie. Toffoli is a better goal scorer then JT. MTL get a really good goalie a solid middle 6 player in JT, A 1st, Bower who can make their roster as a bottom C. Barron is a Solid top 4 D. This is a really good deal for both teams. THe Topper is Nash get stuck with a 6MM bill for Weber. What is better then that!!!!

Bowers would not make our bottom 6, he is useless to us.
Let's break this up:

Toffoli gets a. 1st + 1st round caliber prospect + 2nd. That would be a 1st, barron, and let's say Martin kaut.

Weber will cost a 4th, since he's still with the boys.

Price costs a 1st + 1st round caliber prospect + Goalie prospect + immediate goalie + 2nd for retention.

Therfore the whole trade would be:

Colorado gets: Toffoli, Price, Weber, Primeau ( toffoli and price retained as much as you posted)

Montreal gets: 1st, 1st, barron, olausson, annunen, kaut, 2nd, 4th, compher, francouz

He isn't in a backup role. The Tandem is best goalie goes in play. I think Price has gas in the tank. Keumper has proven he can lead. Price needs time to heat up.

This is why you are in last place. Over pricing talent. Toffi is not worth a 1st. Price is over priced at 10MM. You aren't going to get a 1st for either one alone. The 1st was to leverage the three to get some value.

He's generally way over the line, but Toffoli is actually worth a 1st/prospect and 2nd/prospect, and that's fairly widely accepted.

You can't really trade for Price in good faith until he's recovered and proven effective still. Makes it impossible to nail down a value and is mostly dependent on the amount of retention. That package is way overboard.

Barron and a 2nd gets you Toffoli without retention.
Some will balk at that because they believe Barron is too good of a prospect to lose, and they may not be wrong.
You have to weigh what you want now against what you might need in the future and decide which is more important.
It doesn't have to be Barron exactly either, that's just a possibility which represents approximate cost to acquire Toffoli.

Ricochetii is not wrong on Toffoli his price without retention is a 1st + 2nd if you want retention on a multi 20 goalscorer in his prime for 3 years, your going to have to give up serious value, like at least another 1st minimum. Price on the other hand is paid 10.5 mil for 5 years BUT here is the rub you are getting him at 3 Milish for 5 years since you added Weber to the deal to allow the Avs to basically wipe 7.8 Mil off Prices cap hit. That right there has serious value especially to a team looking to contend! We are talking like Jack Eichel (pre herniated disc) or Conner McDavid value! Where else on the planet are you going to get an elite, hall of fame caliber goaltender for under 3 mil? You saw what he did with the Habs last season at 10.5 mil we would maybe get a 1st + 3rd (or equal prospect) with 25% retention. You are basically making this 75% retention, you don't think that is going to seriously cost you? Or did you think/hope Habs fans wouldn't figure out your little scheme?

There isn’t a planet that exists that KSE signs off on adding a $7M dead cap hit in Webber, a $7.5M contract on a 35 yr old goalie owed that for 5 more years that hasn’t even played this year. The Avs just went 15-0-1 they need a depth dman, a bottom 6 pk face off forward and 3rd goalie that’s preferably waiver exempt not mountains of bad contracts.

This is absurd. Avs have a great cap situation and have zero reason to take on massive cap dumps.

Taking the Weber contract doesn't magically turn Price into a 3M cap hit. It just doesn't work like that. Also, Price is broken. You're trading good assets for the privilege of paying millions to two guys who may never play.

Edit: and then of course Habs fans come and say it isn't enough. What planet am I on?

WTF is that? The Avs simply aren't giving up all those assets for broken players.

Did you get hit on the head or something? There's no way the Avs are doing this. I wouldn't take Price for free at this point. No need to take on Weber, and we can do better than Toffoli.

Seattle had a chance to get Price for free this summer. They didn't. His cap hit is monstrous and he's 34.5 y/o. We're not touching his contract, and it's wayyyyyy too long. We're not paying you to get him.
