I don't think Lou even bothers calling up to ask Varlamov to waive his NTC if the offer is 2 3rd rounders.

Toffoli won’t be move for a defenseman who don’t know what defend means and a bunch of spare parts.

While I do think all of the deals you've proposed makes Edmonton a better team, at least on paper, you have them underpaying on at least the Habs and Islanders deals.

The Islanders one is bad for New York.
The Habs one is an underpay, but the bigger issue is that Montreal's not getting a single piece they'd actually be interested in.

Suggesting Barrie is a cap dump is beyond foolish. One of the most productive d in the league for under 5 million while also being right handed which is the most premium position to pay for. The Barrie hate on this site is absolutely insane and completely unwarranted. Don’t like the deal so be it but don’t need to spread that illogical nonsense about being a cap dump.

People use that term way too liberally. It's possible for a player to have zero value to one team and good value to another, or anywhere in between.
A cap dump is when you need to move a player and have exhausted all other options.

I remember when a cap dump was trading players that won’t or can’t play anymore and was straight up dead space. Now it seems need to outperform current contract or be considered a cap dump. It’s absolutely insane and makes using this site almost impossible.
According to the people on this site oilers need to pay to move Barrie but in reality if Holland made him available 25+ teams would be calling.

It would be WAY less than 25+ teams. His age is going to rule out around 10 teams (mostly teams not competing now). If the Oilers aren't matching salary for another overpaid player, than additional 10 to 15 teams that wouldn't call. Plus there may be teams that don't fall into the first two categories that just don't need an PP specialist RD. Its not going to be a large market.

He’s signed threw years shouldn’t expect any drop in play so don’t see how age would factor in at all. The fact mention for another overpaid player kinda throws this conversation right off because he’s far from being overpaid he’s on a very cap friendly contract for what he provides. Look at the cost for right handed d Seth jones just signed for double and isn’t nearly as good offensively as Barrie.

Barrie for the Habs is a cap dump because there is legit no use for him on a rebuilding team. Also without the EDM powerplay, Barrie is garbage. Awful defence and bad 5v5 offensive production.
