The numbers will change based on how they are doing in the standings, but yes, because Montreal is worse they get the first overall pick that's valued at 917.

If Buffalo won first overall and Montreal went to 7th Overall the top 5 would be

Arizona 2508
Montreal 2394
Buffalo 2329
Seattle 2319
Ottawa 1873

The values for the top 5 picks would be

1.917
2.871
3.826
4.783
5.741

The value of the draft picks were found from some website like 10 years ago saying what the actual value of the picks were, I can't seem to find it now though.

Arizona has the most draft capitol and id take buffalo next, 3 firsts. then MTL.

Alfie11 other Flames fans - Treliving had a great TDL/ Month for Calgary.

One of my favorites from the West.

Meanwhile EDM is running Kosi - Smith for a cup run....

I only see COL, MIN being real threats to them.

I really hope you're right lol. I think Toffoli was an excellent addition and I'm a big fan of Jarnkrok, hopefully that turns out to be the missing piece to propel us on a deep run. I like that we were active and went in pretty hard, it felt like the Atlantic was making most of the moves but the Flames made the most significant additions in the Pacific (Toffoli+Jarnkrok+Carpenter vs. Edmonton adding Kulak+Brassard vs. Kings adding Stecher vs. VGK losing Dadonov). He might have overpaid slightly for Jarnkrok, but the Toffoli deal was very fair and looking more like a steal every day, I think he'll be a difference maker in the playoffs. This team's expectation should be to make it to the WCF, and hopefully Colorado, Minnesota, and St. Louis beat each other up enough in the first two rounds that we can squeak past the winner of the Central division bloodbath and play for a cup.

It's because Montreal has 14 picks in the draft and Arizona has 10. It will be close, but according to this Formula, Montreal will get the most value out of the draft. Of course they don't select BPA so it comes down to scouting though.

I agree, I don't think they'll win a round if they have to play Florida or Tampa. But unless they were going to get someone like John Gibson or Semyon Varlomov, there weren't really any good goalies on the market so acquiring a defenseman made the most sense, and they got probably the best fit that was on the open market. And I know that you think they need a forward, but Toronto has one of the best offenses in the league, but a slightly below average defense/goaltending, so I'm not sure I agree.

Even Varlomov I would question. Hasnt been great this year like he was last year and was only in 19 games with a 5-12-2 record. Like in general there was no real true upgrade to a primed Campbell. Well unless Tampa wants to give us Vas or Winnipeg Buck then maybe lul

I think honestly think all they need is a healthy confident Campbell back and they are set

As till Jan 7 he was great then I suspect he got hurt and played through it. On top of that our defense wasnt really playing great and Muzzin was out. All these factor in to not good outcome for him. I say we go Campbell/Kallgren till Mrazek shows improvement then we give him a second chance but one bad game back down.

What don't you understand? It's just straight value for the picks. Imagine you had to trade up, according to this formula in order to get 15th overall, you would have to trade 35 & 38 to get the same value back.

One thing to note for after this two years of wearing masks.

People have much more beautiful eyes than I originally thought.

i get the premise of it. but you just lised a bunch of random numbers and i have no idea what they meant. and how a 3rd, 6th and 7th round pick have the same value as a late 1st.

So BOS could've traded their 13th, 14th and 15th overall picks to the first overall one in 2015?

I wish I could find the website that told you all of that ffs. It pretty much means you should be expected to get the same impact with the 32nd overall pick than you would with that 3rd, 6th, 7th

According to this model that goes back to when drafts first started, Boston should've expected to get similar impact with those 3 picks that the team with the 1st overall pick got. It's a rough model because obviously I can't input a generational player like McDavid as the first overall pick, but it's averaged out.

They are probably better off using pick 13,14,15 and using them towards actually effective players say idk Connor, Boeser, Barzal, Chabot
