The actual value isn't terrible I think, but that they chose this over moving him for stuff is what makes this a bad move. Better than letting him walk for nothing I guess

Lou is amazing they said.
GM of the year they said.

And now they're in 23rd place with:

- The oldest roster in the league.
- The most expensive bottom 6 in the league.
- The longest average contract term in the league.
- The worst prospect pool in the league.
- Almost no cap-space for many years.

That's gonna be a why? from me dawg.

Same thing he's always done. Overpay for character. He's a shrewd trader and has numerous other talents and skills.

But he also is a strict traditional hockey guy who comes down hard on personality and pure skill/young players and rewards tough/veterans.

Look at the team as a whole. It's his mo

I just wanna point out that while this may be a (slightly) bad deal, it's only 2 years and the Pulock and Pelech contracts more than make up for it.

No ... Just that they're on long contracts expiring in their mid/late 30's like everyone else.

Back to back Conference Finals... than try to keep an aging team together and miss the playoffs and rebuild from scratch, we've seen the Leafs do this in 93-94.... those 95-98 years hurt (until Pat Quinn arrived), but those back to back Final 4 memories have kept Leafs fans dreaming for the past 3 decades.

Quick edit, Quinn didn't go rebuild, he just handed cash out to star players like candy.
