Explain why Buffalo is giving up the better player (not saying much) making 1/5 the amount, still controllable, to move up like 15 picks in the middle of two drafts from now, while adding to that. Doesn’t add up

I think Detroit accepts as long as you take a roster player back (think Erne) so they're not blocking the young guns

CGY is not going to get value in return for a Monahan dump. The value is the dump and it will cost substantially more.

Sure Calgary would do that. Erne is cheap and good. Just don't sign one of the other forwards (Dauphin or Rooney) in this scenario

Sabres might be in a better position to sign Pennsylvia born Trochek than the Flames. Sabres could be good very soon if they manage their large cap space well.

No it won’t. Marc Staal cost only a 2nd round pick when they got him from the Rangers, and he was making more money with one year left. So a Lucic dump will cost the same.

Right now Staal is still a useful player, The same can't be said much about Lucic.

A.Staal was a position of need to school young defenseman
B. Staal is still very useful
C. Stall is a leader
D. Lucic is at best a 4th line player
E. Lucic is NOT a Yzerman kind of guy, and Staal is
F. Lucic is a cancer with all the stupid things he has done over his career
