Tyler Bertuzzis Trade Value

Description
One of the biggest disagreements in the ACGMs seems to be over Tyler Bertuzzi's trade value. Most Wings fans insist it would cost an arm and a leg for a team to acquire him, while most other fan bases think they're not living in reality. The vast majority of Bertuzzi trade proposals by fans of other franchises are quickly rebuked by Wings fans with a, "Detroit declines", or a "Detroit declines, and it's not even close". That being the case I thought I might throw a bunch of Bertuzzi trade proposals out there to see if there could be some common ground found. For the purpose of this exercise I made a few assumptions:

1. Bertuzzi is a player valued highly by GMs due to his style of play and how it would translate in the playoffs. He plays a hard game along with being a talented offensive player.

2. COVID protocols are eased relatively soon which makes his vaccination status more of a minor issue than a major one.

3. The acquiring team goes into it with the idea of signing him to an extension so they aren't looking at it as a pure one year rental.

4. That his value lies somewhere between "three premium pieces (top prospect(s), high first round picks)" and "Kerfoot and a 2nd".

5. You have to give up value to get value. Paying for a really good player is going to hurt a little.

6. Yzerman would be fine signing him to an extension if the right deal doesn't come around.

In the end I tried to structure the proposals as either:

- a very good prospect and a mid to late first round pick
- a good prospect, a mid to late first, and a second
- two good prospects and a mid to late first
- in the case of Florida, since they have so few picks left, three good prospects and a late second.

Any of these move the needle for any side involved?

I kinda like the concept of this, but some of the valuations bug me. For instance, the LA and FLA trades. LA package is way more valuable than the FLA one. STL package also lack in value compared to EDM and NJ packages for example.

I find the differential between the packages a bit confusing.

^ you have LA giving up way more than any other team here which is odd (and i don't even like turcotte)

Bertuzzi is not worth near almost any of these, either

At the very least, EDM and TOR say absolutely not.

                      Not sure about the rest.

At the very least, EDM and TOR say absolutely not.

                      Not sure about the rest.

EDM likely says absolutely not, but IDK why the Leafs would. DET says no on the Leafs option.

^ you have LA giving up way more than any other team here which is odd (and i don't even like turcotte)

I don't agree. Turcotte hasn't proven anything and Faber isn't all that special either. I'm not sure Detroit even accepts this one; mostly because Turcotte doesn't look like he'll peak out as anything more than a bottom 6 player at this point.

As of right now, Bertuzzi can't play in Canada. So giving up Knies + a first for a guy who can't play here is why they say no.

You know how many times TML fans said last year that Robertson would be better than Bert this year so they wouldn't move him for Bert? Making the bet that Knies will be the same player as Bert is gambling on a few years of AM/MM/Nylander's primes hoping that this guy pans out based on his success in amateur leagues.

His actual value is irrelevant, because both Bertuzzi and Yzerman have indicated there is no desire to move, so a team would need to overpay to make a deal. If I'm being honest, I don't think a team *should* pay, what he would cost to acquire and I don't see him being moved for that exact reason. Bertuzzi just had a kid and he and his fiancé have expressed their desire to stay and Yzerman wants to extend him, so why move him for anything less than a ransom?

bro I have no interest in trading Bertuzzi lmao It's hilarious how all these fans of other teams want Bert so badly yet don't want to give anything significant up lmao

EDIT: When did Steve Yzerman become a complete dummy? According to CFACGM users he's supposed to be fleeced in every trade and run his team into the ground.

Ok so for the islanders they should trade 13OA, a PPG 19 year old in LIIGA (former consensus 1OA pick) and a future 2nd for a PPG NHL player who is a UFA in a few years and has proven that he does not prioritize winning? Really? Id gladly take Nylander or Fiala before him and neither of them cost that much. Bertuzzi is getting back a first and young player. maybe 13OA and Bellows or something.

I am sorry but all of these are terrible. Not even close to fair value for him, huge overpays. Nobody is saying he is stupid but this post makes it seems as if the other 31 GMs are stupid

He doesn't need the vax. He had covid already which makes his immune response to it more robust anyway. It's pointless for most people under age 65.

its a bigger issue because it shows he is not willing to suck it up to win a cup. He prioritizes being selfish to winning. IDC your stance or not, but to be so stubborn that you wont get a shot to help your team win is stupid.
