Not a chance Columbus trades down. They're after top end talent and they have a good chance of getting a quality player at #6.

Columbus declines easily. Two mid 20s picks and a mid 30s pick might get you 12th OA, it’s not getting 6th OA.

Also, you shouldn't need to go up to 6th for Lambert. He'd almost certainly still be there at, say, 12th. Which would be a more likely return for your offer than 6th.

Buffalo easily passes on that. Okposo will most likely be the team captain and has flat out stated how much he loves Buffalo. He also has a 15 team no trade list. Hoffman does nothing for the Sabres and retaining on him holds little value for them as they have ample cap space. I'm not a big fan of Petry so I won't comment on him, but let's just say aging player and a turnover machine.

I also can't see Columbus making that trade. They need quality prospects more than quantity.

Where's the legit top 3 d man? Someone better than the sabres current top 4? Then trading a leader and a first for what? Okposo is looking like he's gonna be the captain next season.
