I mean, even if they have, why on earth would that immediately make you think "Heck yes, if they're interested they better be giving up their top prospect!"

But why? Why would they have to pay a 1st round pick? Because that's how ACGM homers value their own players? Why? So they can have him on their 3rd line? Also, it'd immediately put them above the cap for next year, with only 18 players signed.

that is not at all what he said

He said the Flames have had real interest in Andersen in the past....when he was available in Columbus half the league was interested in him.
he wonders ......key word wonders, as in his opinion, if the Flames would be interested in him now at retained salary

Anderson is a constant 20+ goal scorer. He is projected to score 25 this year. He is a power forward, fast and brings a different dimension to Calgary. There are not many like him in the HNL, Tuch, Koneceny etc and teams that want them need to pay.

Nobody wants that contract. He's not on the level of Konecny or Tuch either. He's a middle six player

"He is projected to score 25 this year"-My dude, he's shooting 20% right now...that's not exactly sustainable...but, I'll bite...I think you missed this though: "Also, it'd immediately put them above the cap for next year, with only 18 players signed."

Tuch had max 20 goals in the last 3 years and Koneceny had max 24 goals in the last 5 years (per season). They are all similar players with similar contracts.

I agree that the contract is a Big pill to swallow. At max he should have been paid $4.5M per season.

Habs should hold Anderson. Leading the forwards in hits. Scoring at a decent pace. Why are we selling him?

If Hughes gets a decent offer he will consider it. That is why I put Mathew Coronato in the trade. If not him it would have to be at least a 1st rd pick for a trade to happen

But... instead... How about we make the playoffs with a 2nd line of (perceived negative value) Sean Monahan centering (perceived Cap Dump) Anderson and Slafkovsky just to really piss off the Calgary crowd.

he's literally scored 20+ goals once in his 5 full seasons in the league. seems more like an "occasional" 20+ goal scorer to me

Or did he tweet that they have in the past have had interest? Possibly not even when he was a Hab.. and wonders if they revisit. Don't make stuff up for fun.

This is a player the Calgary Flames have, in the past, had very real, significant interest in, and I wonder if they re-visit Josh Anderson (salary retained by Montréal) as they search for more finishing up front..

Pretty important pieces that don't add up to what you are suggesting here. Why not just post his tweet instead of a poorly written fan article?

You continually suggest that it`s old stuff. In this Article if you read it correctly says:

The Flames have had some calls in the last month, with one NHL source confirming the Montreal Canadiens have been one of those teams; but, as of yet, nothing has materialized.

In the last month, we are not talking about last August. To inquire means there is interest in the player. You may not like him but you are not the GM of the Flames; Treliving is and if he pays the price Anderson will become a Flame

I mean Freidman almost immediately says it's unlikely that the Flames would pay that kinda price for Anderson and pivots to talking about Mike Hoffman possibly being a better alternative

So nothing in that article says the call was for Anderson, nothing in the article says there is current interest. It says that in the past the Flames were very interested as everyone knows, no one knows if there has been interest since he's been a Hab. Purely speculation. Concrete facts in there are that the Flames are looking for scoring, the Flames at one point in his career were interested in Anderson, Calgary has talked to Montreal at least once this season. Put together whatever you like from that but it would all be speculation.

Not for a blue chip prospect, and salary would need to go the other way. Anderson's value isn't high.

If the Canadiens were ever to move Anderson however, it would take a haul for Hughes, who has refused offers in the past that have included 1st round picks. You would have to think that Hughes would ask for Jakob Pelletier or Matthew Coronato and the Flames’ 1st round pick in 2023 as a starter

I recommend you read the article
