Not sure about your chain link here. I suppose the Blues could want to check out Eddy, but the guy hasn't been consistently fit or played all that well since the final run. I cannot imagine Army coughing up a 1st for him. Or Yzerman, for that matter. Maybe even more so Yzerman.

Yzerman just signed Chiarot, who is a copy of Edmundson, for 4 years X 5M. He loves those kind of defenseman.

    Army gave a 2nd and a 4th for Scandella 2 years ago.

Detroit is not trading firsts. Montreal has other players on their roster. Maybe they are scouting Buffalo players?

Could be, but both teams are looking for LHD.

Detroit's LD is fine for now, Not sure why Yzerman would be scouting LD Chiarot, Maatta and Walman are fine for now. And Detroit isn't surrendering no potential top 14 pick for Joel Edmundson. Only reason why Yzerman would like Edmundson is because he's 6'4" big what Yzerman likes.

Look what MTL got for Chiarot last year. Same player, same price.

I can guarantee you, that you won't get the Chiarot price from Detroit and St Louis.

St-Louis gave a 2nd and a 4th for Scandella 2 years ago. A much worse player than Edmundson.

Big difference in a 2nd and 4th round pick, than giving up a potential top 14-16 pick in the deepest draft in recent memory.

Big difference between Scandella and Edmundson. And that's 2 years of Edmundson 50% retained.

They could protect it, but Hughes got no protection on the Chiarot trade 1st.

Detroit isn't giving up a 1st for a LD position Edmundson or anybody else. LD is our future strength. I can see Yzerman giving up a 1st for say Bo Horvat because the center position is still a need for us long term at 2C as Andrew Copp is basically a 3rd line LW at best.

I like Steady Eddy but with the logjam of NHL ready young guns on LD, if a 1st is a possible return Hughes/Groton should jump at it.

Yeah and how did that work out for Florida? Probably Bill Zito's worst trade. Give up a 20+ 1st round pick for a Dman that didn't help you one iota. And then get swept by Tampa in the 2nd round.

He tried like alot of teams each years. Many GM's worst trade is probably giving a 1st for a rental and not passing 1st or 2nd round of playoffs. Only 1 team gets to win the cup.

Getting swept by Tampa isn't Chiarot fault, nor is it that bad for Florida. TB is the best team in the league. Chiarot proved he's a good D by signing a 4 years X 5M contract, given by one of the smartest GM in the league.

Army has also signed Leddy and Krug to play top 4 minutes for us. Unless Eddy is a huge upgrade on either of them we won't spend a first. Also there has been no reports from any stl Journalists saying they have been looking for help in upgrading the defense, maybe the bottom pairing but certainly not the top 4 spots. Also we play the sabres tomorrow so probably just have a scout there to see how they are playing
