Idea would be that Miller temporarily plays 1C to shelter bedard then eventually shifts back over to wing when Bedard takes over 1C and one of Newhook or Sillinger grabs a hold of the 2C spot.

Gotta give up to get, so Pettersson goes to bring in a big, touted RD to eventually play with Hughes.

Vancouver has too much talent to get Bedard, they'd have to trade Horvat and Kuzmenko now, not at the deadline. I don't see it happening.

Or you can keep Brock Boeser until he starts playing. Like he’s worth a 1st round pick again

a what's looking like late 1st rounder is buying pretty low for Boeser. Thought about keeping him on the roster but VAN needs a new direction and should semi-clear the house where they can

laugh laugh Pettersson and Hughes are 100% untouchable according to both Allvin and Rutherford. And Columbus isn't trading both Jiricek and Sillinger.

And Colorado isn't giving up Newhook Girard and a late 1st for a player they wouldn't be able to sign.

If we get Bedard we don't move Pettersson. Those guys as a 1-2 punch at C is incredible.

Okay, this to me is now final confirming proof that some Canucks fans just started getting obsessed over our prospects when they were hyping themselves up over a Miller trade and now Just Can't Let Go.

We're not targeting Petterson. His agent is actively hostile to Columbus. Our two biggest roster holes - #1C and #1RD - became holes as a direct result of Pat Brisson's actions. Neither Sillinger nor Jiricek will be moved at all, let alone together for a trap like that.

That Colorado trade is… something. Girard a cap dump? Him PLUS a 1st PLUS Newhook?

If Patches went for future considerations and Björkstrand nets a 3rd and a 4th, the Canucks are paying a 1st to move Boeser's contract out at this point.

Who does Boeser replace in the Devils lineup as of right now? That's all I'd like to know.

Boeser has been straight up bad this season, which is why he was going to be scratched a couple of nights ago, before injury. Would would be replace in the devils top 9, and how would it be an upgrade?

Id say it’s a “Maybe” from NJD.

A straight 1st for Boeser is not inconceivable as a trade. It would be in off-season if ever done. And obviously done if NJD saw something which indicates he would rebound.

But today, I don’t think they would do it. Maybe 2nd and prospect. Maybe 1st if there is retention.

It’s a maybe.

I think it would be an off-season acquisition that would replace Tatar in lineup for 2023-24. May not be as good as Tatar in possession, but Boeser is still good around the net. Could be great time to buy low.

I’d prefer one of our kids moving up the lineup naturally tbh. Our 7OA sniper barely plays since we’ve been that stacked up front

Yeah, I am probably with you. But I imagine there is at least a small chance Fitzy is entertaining the idea of a Boeser move since he has had interest before (we believe) and when playing well, he certainly fits our need at wing (someone who can finish in tight).

And playing the patient game on Holtz wouldn’t bother me much as long as he got his chances. Id probably regret it if we didn’t get good looks at Foote and Thompson sometime this year.

the idea is that moving Girard's bad contract allows the space to resign Horvat

Mea culpa. We had a number of Canucks fans recently start speculating on Petterson-to-Jackets stuff and I mistakenly saw this as more of the same.
