Like this for Vancouver. Getting assets to lose a long term depth contract (which are almost always bad ideas) is a decent bit of business

2 more years at a million per, not expensive by any means. For a future later pick? You could do worse.

It's not as bad as it could be for NJD, as the contract can be buried. Still, there had to have been better options for a 13th forward...

He's way better utilized at center but for some reason, the Canucks never wanted to use him there. He's a good bounce-back candidate and is a guy that could be one of those classic playoff heroes. A win-win for both sides

For a 2024 4th round pick, I’m ok with it. A nice depth move with some grit.

I'm not watching it but God damn the live coverage of this TDL might be the most boring in years.

Fair deal, he's a proven NHL 4th liner who can play every forward position. Can't score to save his life, but getting him for 2 more years at $1M is nice cost certainty for Jersey, and getting a mid-round pick is good for Vancouver. Maybe they start acting like a rebuilding team now?

We thought that, then they said, " we need Hronek for our 2023 1st round pick (NYI) "

I'd rather the Devils just ice any of Holtz, Foote, Clarke or Thompson that burning this 4th rd pick on a guy that likely would be about as effective as the guys I listed.
I'm one of Fitzgerald's biggest fans but I don't see any real intent behind this move, only FOMO and trading for the sake of trading.

Curtis Lazar? Random.

Not sure what he adds to our lineup, but Fitzy staying true to his commitment of no rentals.

Why did the chipmunks trade him? He’s a physical player who actually WANTS to play for us. I detest this deal for us, Lazar is keeper in VAN, can see that with the Devils.

It's not going to hurt us for a 4th. I mean the contract can be buried in the AHL if he isn't good enough for us.

No doesn’t hurt us to have a 5C. And, for him, $1 million a year to sit in the suites at The Rock is a pretty good gig.

There is a chance, five of the six guys we traded for at deadline don’t play a game.

Injury insurance on a 100% burable contract with term... for a pick that has about a 1 in 3 chance of becoming injury insurance or better. ... Okay. Fair deal.

That's about what I'd pay for an inexpensive non-rental like Lazar.

Fair deal.
