There are no amounts of picks that can get the 1st overall this year. Only 3 things get that top pick this year and its one of Matthews / McDavid / MacKinnon

I genuinely don’t even think a team would trade the 1st pick for Matthews, McDavid or MacKinnon given their respective ages and contracts

You could offer them Kyrou and Thomas and they’d still say no

Jackets need quality over quantity. Their last big needs not covered by current players/prospects are 1C and 2LD. Jackets don’t even consider this

Some Maple Leafs fan posted this to troll. Blues could offer their whole team and all their draft picks and they'd say no

25/26/27, man, they're really aging.

While Bedard is tearing it up right now, he still hasn't played an NHL game. I think Jarmo would be a fool to turn down one of these 3 for the top pick.

The blue jackets are the exception because they need to build a contender around Gaudreau and Laine

I know they’re not old but Bedard would be coming into the league 7, 8, 9 years younger. Much longer window for contention especially since he’d be on an ELC. Bedard is the best prospect since McDavid and is up there with the Crosbys, Ovechkins, Gretzkys, and Lindros’s in prospect talent. He’s gonna be a superstar

I'm willing to bet that after watching him play a full season in the NHL, i'd likely change my answer.

But right now, you're telling me that Jarmo turns down the best player on the planet for a guy who hasn't laced em up against guys older than 19? I'd call you crazy.

People are def undervaluing having a super star at a 950k cap hit for 3 years. I'm not gonna call Bedard as good as any of those players YET, but think 2 years down the line in the last year of his ELC... You may have a McDavid level player on a $950k cap hit... That's priceless and no one can give up enough value for that.

And for discussion sake, 9 + 26+27=? 6 overall? 5?

Depending on the team and their opinion of Carlson maybe 3 but 1 and 2 are definitely off the table

Bedard would take another top 4 pick, Kyrou, Thomas, Snuggerud, Bolduc and probably a few more picks lol. He is gonna be McDavid-caliber price to pay

The only considerable offer in my mind would be:

Neighbors/Dean
Bolduc/Snuggerud
Hofer/Zherenko
Our 1st, hypothetically top 10
Another 1st in the same draft

Developing prospects on positive trajectory and ELC are more valuable than a first, or a roster player.

I think this would be a bad idea for the Blues.

Whoever gets the first pick would easily say no to this

Lets just say Columbus does make this trade. The lottery would result in the Blues getting the 2nd overall pick and watch Chicago get Bedard. That's just how things go in the 314.
