Possibly undervaluing Hayton a bit here, but he hasn't shown much offensive flash yet. Basically using our well-stocked cabinet to stock up ARI's for a higher-value piece.

I don't mind the player but not in this deal.

Mastro is more of a formality. He's not re-signing here and is an ASU student. We're losing him regardless.

Lombardi is an OHL over-ager. He's had a great year, yes, but hasn't proved anything at the professional level. He's unlikely to be a top 6 NHLer.

Veleno + 18ish overall is basically what this boils down to IMO.

How do you know mastro isn't signing? He just transferred to asu this year to get more playing time and the red wings supported his transfer.

Hayton hasn't done anything before moving up to the top line this year really. It's a big overpayment.

The first is a none starter for him
Lombardi is only an overeager because of COVID and the years he lost
Mastro can resign
Veleno is good for us especially if he develops more.

Prob wouldn't even consider half of this going for him, maybe veleno/mastro and that's it

Phoenix doesn't touch this deal. Just nothing in it for them to say yes. Veleno isn't an improvement, the pick drafted likely isn't an improvement and they lose a guy who looks like a solid 200ft 2C

I dont hate this, but dont like including Veleno and the 1st. If he was RH I'd be more inclined.

Moving Mastro and Lombardi is meaningless, but ARZ has no reason to say yes to this.

Coyotes at more of a stage to be building on there small established nucleus than adding more picks and future, got to start building back at some point and the whole squad can’t be 22 when you try it. Could see some more capdumps and picks coming, but 5/6 guys are in it til turns around and it seems like hayton is one of them. Probably doesn’t move the line enough for the wings either for the package.

if/ when the wings trade prospects it will be LHD. They have some really good prospects there with out enough spots for them in the lineup.

dont see why Arizona does this. Hayton has finally found his game and looks great with Keller/Schmaltz. I just dont think they trade a young player at this point, they can only rebuild for so long

I've read mastro not signing in a couple places recently. His coach I believe made a comment that he's had a lot of teams sending out feelers to him and he hinted at him even returning to Arizona for another year.

LOL Talk about a major overpay on Hayton shakes head

Lombardi is only an overager due to the fact that he missed out on his 16th age year plus Covid shut down the OHL in his 17th year. But his 18th year was close to a point per game. Plus look at what he's done this season. That's hardly being an overager.

Hayton is in the core of Arizona's rebuild. I don't see them trading a cost-controlled RFA who still has a lot of upside for a bunch of spare parts and a 1st round pick.

I just heard it on winged wheel podcast today, not sure why the coach would come out and say that though and if it's true then sure they can trade his rights. It's still an overpayment for this player
