Yeah same, but i hope Hughes at least inquires. Fantilli would go 1st is virtually every draft except this one, Matthews and Mcdavids

Fantilli is a genuine 100 pts 1st line center. Slaf at best a 70 point guy and Smith maybe a 80 point guy

Ya screaming a ovechkin/malkin or Thornton/marleau type year minimum, probably even going deeper than that. Would be a hell of a year to find a couple picks in top 20

Depends what teams think of smith and how much better they think Fantilli will be. Looking at it from detroits point of view if I got 2 wouldn't do it. We've been waiting for our lottery win I wouldn't give it up for slaf and 5 oa.

Smith is Jack Hughes 2.0. Or very darn close.

Kidney and Mesar arent being shipped out together with the Florida 1st. way too much for a guy they can have for free in a year. Hughes would be crucified

He's bigger than Jack. The motor seems to be the question mark. Definite high talent but consistency questions.

Anyone trading up in the top 4 this draft would have to overpay a ton. It wont happen but fun to dream.

I mean in my head I'm like swapping 5 to 2 for a 1st overall winger should be a yes but Montreal being in detroits division I'm petrified fantilli turns into McKinnon or Mathews and haunts us for a decade.

Fantilli had question marks even winning the Hobey Baker because he's not the traditional hockey guy. Introspective, a bit off the wall. This despite breaking Jack Eichel's points record after the Kariya juiced numbers. I'm curious if a team will pass on him for Michkov or Carlsson. The wild card is Reinbacher, one D almost always go in the top5. We are at the point now where every prospect gets disected to death and scouts will reach for flaws that arent even there.

I'd be shocked by him being passed by Carlsson he's just so much better. If michkov wasnt Russian and signed for like 3 more years in the khl he could go before him.

You cant find players like Fantilli at that size that can skate like him and at that position. Slafkovsky was drafted at 1 and a big reason why was because that frame and scoring ability is so much more rare than a guy like Wright or Cooley tho Cooley looks like the best of the bunch as of now. Slaf is the definite project. I dont think Fantilli is a project and should produce almost immediately. That will be quite caveat to certain teams as opposed to players from the European game and Russia. I would also be shocked but GMs to tend to galaxy brain these decisions, sometimes. I could see Reinbacher drafted in the top 4-5 by a few teams in the lottery.

I agree, i would even say Slaf is probably a 50-60 points power forward. Smith has a good chance to be a PPG center, slightly better than Suzuki overall.

But Slafkovsky is a 1st overall pick, and he's a project. I wouldn't move him yet. Let's see what he can do in 3 years.

According to The Athletics draft pick value chart, the price to move from 5 to 2 would be the 19th overall pick. I guess they would ask for MTL and FLA 2023 1st.

Speaking from purely my own perspective as a CHI fan. I wouldn't pass up Fantilli for that proposal. Super high on him and by the sounds of this ACGM, you are also and rightly so. He looks like a very special player who could potentially make an immediate impact.

Personally, Slaf we need to see more of and Smith needs more time to refine and not as sure fire as Fantilli. Benson looks great though the question mark will always be the size and if he can do it in the NHL. My guess is he can but its just another layer of risk as compared to Fantilli who essentially seems the least risk of all mentioned.

Yeah... I definitely wouldn't trade Fantilli for that package. I personally thought Slaf was overrated in last years draft to begin with, let alone after the surprise of being picked 1st overall. Cooley, Nemec, and Jiricek were always my favorites at that top of the 2022 draft. Fantilli would likely go 1st overall in most drafts in recent history, including last year. MTL would need to add the FLA 1st at the very least.

That isn't to say I don't think Slaf is good, either. Because I do like him, but I just think there were better players available. I might not have even grabbed him in the top 10 to be honest. But, I'm probably in the minority with that hot take.

If I'm the Hawks at #2, I'm keeping Fantilli. Interesting idea though!

You are talking about a top 10 player in the NHL at age 21. And saying Will Smith will be that 2.0. Those are more realistic expectations for Fantilli

I get that he won't be as good, but we're probably talking 100 vs 90 points with similar play styles. So ya, very similar players at a close level to each other.
