Why would the Habs do that?

Cap dumps cost and Myers with his $5m bonus still to be paid is going to cost. My opinion is that salary would cost a 2nd to shed prior to the bonus being paid.

Boeser is worth maybe a 3rd + 5th.

Its not very enticing for CHI.

Here, take our unwanted cap and pay us a positive asset to do so.

Both Boeser and Myers PB have value. IMO Boeser fetches at least a 2nd and a young struggling NHLer and Myers(PB) can fetch at least a 7th from a team that can flip him at the TDL.
Preds also decline.

Heads-up to all teams looking to sell their big cap players to the Hawks for a "positive return" back. When a team is up against the cap, it's not just about whether a player has a positive return in a trade - it's about clearing space, too.

Chicago fans have lived it. We know it hurts. I keep saying it... Do you think we (Chicago) made the Bickell trade to comply with the cap - by "throwing in" Teravainen - because Teravainen had no value? Of course not. We did it because WE HAD TO.

A player having a positive value "should" generate a positive return in a trade, of course. But being up against the cap changes that calculation. Generating cap space is also a "positive return"! There aren't a ton of teams this year with a LOT of cap space looking to get whatever they can for the cap floor. (The Hawks won't have a problem with the floor.)

Be prepared. We know it hurts. We lived knowing how CRITICAL cap space is, and we're going to ensure we get the most from ours in any trades. We're not going to throw around cap relief willy-nilly, simply because we can.

The habs need quality not quantity considering the depth of their prospect pool, even if value was there i just don't see how they even consider this

According to the pick chart from David Wilson of Carlton University,

Habs are giving 987 value

11th and 75th overall is worth 699 value

So the extra 1st kinda makes it fair but this is removing all context. Habs are missing an elite forward. Habs can only get one at 5 as theyll probably all be gone by 8 so youd have to guarantee an elote player coming back. Pete is the only one, and the canucks would never do that

Hawks decline. They won't pay a 2nd for Boeser. And Myers at his full salary takes at least a 2nd to dump. Hawks counter w/ Vancouver's '25 2nd + Boeser + Myers for '23 Dallas 3rd.

Nashville has 13 draft picks. They arent trading their best one for two inferior ones and a lhd d that requires waivers to be sent down that they dont have roster space for. If anything, we may try to move up
