Most realistic and best team on this site

Created by: arman2002k
Team: 2023-24 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Jul. 12, 2023
Published: Jul. 12, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This is the best and most realistic team on this site. Samsonov has high value on the market. Especially for LA Kings. The return is fair. Lilegren is a young established top 4 rfa defensemen. A first round pick is fair. Matt Murray is a perfect contract for Chicago to take on, because they have more than enough cap space and Murray is a player that can start a lot of games for them when he is healthy. Robertson still has nhl potential and Chicago would be a perfect place for him to play more games in the nhl. Then Nylander for Konency 1 for 1. This is a great trade for both sides. For the Leafs because they have more cap space to work with over the next few seasons, and for the Flyers, because they are getting the better player in this deal and he comes with a long term extension. Naturally, the Flyers would have to add a little something else to make the trade more even. So, they agree to retain 1.5 million in salary. None of these trades are unrealistic, and they all make sense for each team.

Any trade for Matt Roy is not realistic.

1. The kings just signed Talbot, don’t think they’ll trade him before he ever sees the light of day with them

2. The Jets aren’t paying a potential top 10 pick for a fringe second to third pairing defensemen

3. I’ve said this a 1000000000 times now Chicago has no need for either

4. By the time the flyers are even a playoff team again, at least half of Nylander’s contract will have gone by, not much longterm benefit

So you decline the second trade even though you robbed the jets so hard you ended up on the FBI’s most wanted list

I’m my opinion Konechy>Nylander and I think flyers are looking for picks for Konechy after drafting Michkov

Not realistic to think that Los Angeles would trade Matt Roy for Ilya Samsonov at this point, never mind the extras. And hilariously unrealistic to think that Chicago is going to take Matt Murray, whom the Black Hawks can't buy out, off your hands solely in exchange for the brittle Nic "Outward Bound in Every Toronto ACGM" Robertson.

Sandin got a 1st in a better draft + Erik Gustafson. Liljegren is better and worth more than Sandin.

I would have traded Willy to WPG for Hellebuyck, then rented one of CGY UFAs or both of them.

10 million for Nylander for seven years on a rebuilding team is not that swell. By year four of that deal we may be competitive again. Either way Flyers aren't looking to make a big name splash, so they'd be looking for picks and prospects over a single big name who really won't speed up the process. Doubt Nylander signs with a rebuilder.

Hawks decline. If all it took to dump Murray was Robertson, Murray wouldn't still be a Leaf.

The difference in that regard is that A) It wasn’t the Capitals first round pick, it was Boston’s and B) It was guaranteed Sandin would get playing time because the capitals were selling what they could at the deadline

In Liljegren’s case it’s not guaranteed he even makes the Jets let alone the third pairing

And the Jets are going to be dog **** next year so that pick is off the table

He easily makes it in over Schmidt and puh-lease, Jets are easily a playoff team

Hawks don't take on Matt Murray without a first attached to him. Robertson is an iffy prospect who is undersized and hurt every year. HARD PASS. Maybe Murray and Knies for future considerations would get it done from Chicago's perspective. Doubt Toronto does that deal. They likely missed the boat on using Chicago to take on Murray's contract. Hawks have reached the cap floor, and their asking price to take on bad deals has skyrocketed since then. Toronto's likely only option is to buy him out when their next buyout window opens after Samsonov's arbitration hearing.

2019 has passed, Hellebuyck is on his way out and he was like the main reason the jets kept their relevancy for as long as they did

Doubt he's going this year if they're in contention. Not a chance I do this as the Leafs

Hellebuyck isn’t going to extend and the jets won’t want to lose him for nothing, that’s terrible asset management
