Well...Dallas obviously declines. They aren't going to cripple the entire present AND future of their organization for one guy

Devils do not want the player and definitely not at that price. Our defense group is perfectly fine as-is.

I would need that 1st to be top 20 protected, and remove the 2nd to even consider this…even with the retention.

Hronek doesn’t get more than paid for after playing 4 games and getting injured.

Cripple isn’t the word I would use, you are reallocating Benns money, and getting a far better player than WJ, he’s a superstar, he’s going to cost you, look at tkachuck

For BB at 3.65? Your pick is going to be 20-22, so that’s what i went off

A top 17 pick in a stacked draft and high 2nd

A 20’s pick in a weaker draft and a player who probably would have slid to the 2nd round in this draft. I think its reasonably close

Dallas is giving up:

- Their 78-point captain
- A 20-year old that's already locked into a top-6 spot
- A high end forward prospect that is being groomed to take Pavelski's spot on the top line as early as next season
- A high end defensive prospect
- Two 1st Round Picks

All of this for a guy that Dallas doesn't need. They were the 7th best offense in the NHL last year, before adding Matt Duchene to the roster this offseason. Makes no sense for Dallas to entertain giving up legitimately 5 of the best pieces in the organization for a guy that doesn't fill a NEED for them.

I’d rather have the pick than Boeser if I’m being honest.

No promises that pick will be in the 20s, and Ostlund slander around here is getting a little out of control. Played real well against men in Swedish 2 league as an 18 year old. Most points and rounded out his game really well. And again, four games for Van before (another) shoulder injury.

They're in a perfect situation with current vets and future talent coming up. They're essentially giving up those high end players who will take over for the vets. Plus firsts
Yeah, that's just ways too much to give up

Dallas are in no position to throw young players they have on ELC for one guy, and then pay him 10 mil+.

Sabres pass. Have to look how Clifton, Johnson signings pan out first.

Except for the Dallas trade, every other teams, is thinking it's April 1st
Your analysis of Benn might be correct, but his NMC allows him to stay away from abyssal Vancouver. Not the city .....the hockey team Canucks.

That is an overpayment for Petey. He's a great player, but if we compare it to Tkachuk, his return was two vets on expiring deals with extensions, a prospect, and a 1st rounder. Tkachuk was coming off a 104 point season, while vet Huberdeau was coming off a 115 point season, but was also 29.

Honestly this hurts the team more than fixes it. Realistically Petey will net back good talent, a 1st rounder, and a high end prospect.

Dallas is one of the strongest offensive teams in the league currently, they aren't spending huge futures to just boost that. They'd just repeat Edmonton, stellar offense in front of tissue paper defense.

Hey if you take Suter as well maybe they'd consider it.

Entirely comical price for Hughes. You'd never pull anything close to that
