Save Slaf from Anderson

Created by: MTLaveragefan
Team: 2023-24 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Oct. 30, 2023
Published: Oct. 30, 2023
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Weird to say... but Slaf would have at least 5 points if Anderson was actually able to finish.

How many occasion were squandered after Anderson missed an open net after fumbling a nice set-piece by Slaf...

The young guy is far from perfect on the ice... but damn - he needs to be moved away from Andy - especially when Dvorak comes back.

Sending him to a team who's got the cap space - too many picks and the desire to a minimal show for their fans (which Anderson provides). Like he's a powerhorse - will be fast af, hit hard... and score around 15-20 on rush chances. Will fight from time to time if he needs to.

Basicly, will make it fun - but won't hurt your continued tanking.

I want Perry back - but the price is VERY negotiable!

Perry >>> Anderson
2nd round pick >>> Anderson

You’d have to pay significantly to get out of Anderson’s contract, let alone get assets for him

Some people seem to like Anderson on here and are willing to pay for him. Those people are not CHI fans. You would have to pay CHI to take his contract. Same goes for Armia, Gallagher, Allen, Dvorak, and Savard. If you are ever going to propose sending any of them to CHI, you will need to have MTL paying for it or else it will almost certainly be rejected unanimously.

This isnt right
Now we're blaming others for goals slafkovsky cant score too?
I mean blaming him for missed shots though is too far
traditionally his shooting percentages are quite good.

He's just been diminished to the role of a Goon
He doesnt shoot anymore from the top of the circle as he's always net front.
When he is involved in a goal its as screen these days with no reward.
We have guys willing to do that but no one willing to play the half wall to retrieve pucks and shoot outside Suzuki.

Watch your mouth about Savard that blasphemy lol
I can agree with the rest but "Big Game Dave" as named by the Habs teammates is so key.
Only reason people trade him on here now is his contracts ending soon and Mailloux is here as it ends.
If Mailloux got banned no one's trading Savard as he brings too much to the team.

The rest are role players who are over paid.
Savard is a Role player paid as a role player and produces more then he should given his role as a Leader especially for key prospect like Caufield and Suzuki who credit him so much.

haha. No offense meant. MTL and other teams may value him and his play and/or leadership. But I highly doubt CHI would have any interest in acquiring him if they weren't being paid to do so.

Nope just believe the GM
He's not lied to us yet
If he said he turned down a 1st round pick for Anderson as it wasnt enough, i believe him.

Does it mean i agree with it? Not Really
But i get it at least as during big rivalry games he does lead that charge just ask the Leafs or Sens or BOS about Anderson.
But outside that role he's not given the same amount of room and confined to a net front presence rather the Half board guy who cycles pucks like before .

If he made 2m less nobody would ever complain about him.
But he was coming off a big year with all the leverage and used it.
MTL's fault for giving him all that term to go with it, i know CBJ wouldnt have hence the trade for Domi they ditched ASAP

The same could be said of Seth Jones. But we live in the land of reality and Anderson makes what he does and is overpaid/underperforms.

I love how every single fanbase agrees that Anderson has negative value except Habs fans.

Besides one BS report, there has never been a single person in the world who has wanted to pay for Anderson at his contract lol. Enjoy gaslighting yourself into thinking he is a top 250 forward

At 3.5M$ people would line up for him - he's overpaid by maybe 2M when you look at his points and his impact.

However, guys like that are relatively rare and that explains the premium paid on his contract...

AND let's note that he plays for the habs where players like him immidiatly become better when they leave.

Again Performance based on what?
Expectations when he signed? Not really
We Refused to Pay Domi who earned it and good thing too.
Anderson may be overpaid but we're talking 5.5m overpaid versus the 8m x 7 that Domi was seeking long term.
MTL tried signing him on different bridge deals but he tried using his leverage of being the 3rd habs to his 70pts in the 21 Century to date.
Not Signing Anderson would be we'd have a Duchene like contract attached to Domi right now

I think thats why i dont see things the same.
I dont see what he cost us , i see what he saved us
Imagine trying to offload that contract if we signed Domi if you think moving Anderson is hard.

Guys like what? WHAT DOES HE DO.

He is big and physical? Okay I can name you 40 forwards like him. Probably way more.

He doesnt produce. He doesnt drive play. he isnt good defensively. He isnt good special teams. HE IS JUST SO MID

Anderson signed his contract after a season where he had 1 goal and 3 assists in 26 games. He was not coming off a big year at all

At 3.5M I am still not making that deal as the Hawks. He does not fit into the rebuild. Neither does Primeau

What did i just say about his cap hit?
So you have to be a sack of **** to the guy and discredit his value because he's overpaid?
Beyond that 2m IMO that he's overpaid , i dont have a single complaint about his game.
He F'd himself signing long term and taking the easy money Marc Bergavin through at him and everyone else.
But there's great tragedies like paying Armia 3.4 and know he's not worth an entry level contract.
Or Dvorak making about 3m more then he's proven he's worth, that sucked given the cost.

But Andersons complaint circle is all focused on Cap
Ask those same people if they'd sign Anderson at 3 to 3.5m and their tune changes.

Name them
Ones that
-Have Breakout Ability with their Speed at his Size
-Have his Power and Intensity
-Will Fight even if its usually to a bear hug Draw.
-Cycles Pucks out from the Corners.
-Plays the Rodeo Clown cause chaos so other players can take advantage.

IMO you fix it by landing what Dach brought that ever Center in MTL cant for these two
Give them a big Power Center like McBain, Faksa or even a more Compact rugged Center like Sissons
McBain was someone Hughes was a final team in on him after he Graduated from College so the desire is there.
I think Slafkovsky-McBain-Anderson become a force worth respecting
