They aren't. Montreal isn't getting close to a 1 for Josh Anderson you're forgetting the line attached to that one that looks like this 7. Take the 7 if you can get it and consider yourself fortunate.

If this is the deal, which it isn't, Canucks cut out Montreal and trade Garland directly to Anaheim.

Canucks easily decline. Not giving up Garland for a worse player who is more expensive and has more term. No interest in Anderson under any circumstances whatsoever.

When the younger and cheaper (albeit UFA) Anthony Beauvillier just got traded for a fifth, the Ducks aren't going to pay a first to a guy with similar stats who will cost Anaheim almost $17 million over the next three seasons. That's not how our front office operates.
