Description
Does GMDW make a panic trade? If so, who would he target and how much would it cost? Based on the past it doesn't seem he would be willing to give up a lot but if this continues he may not have a choice

This team is over the cap, and all teams decline these lopsided trades

not a canes fan but id doubt he makes a panic trade, raanta and andersen are a good duo when theyre healthy and pk is good insurance. some of these goalies (saros, hart and gibson) would also likely cost a first and if memory serves correctly don doesnt trade his first rounder often

I don't see the Bruins trading Swayman unless its a ridiculous return. He should be the long-term starter for the franchise

Allen (50%) : 2024 3rd round pick + 2024 5th round pick.

No negotiation for a lower price.

Given Dostal's recent yips, Anaheim is not likely to move Gibson. When you've got a true #1 guy, you don't trade him away until you know you've got another one.

Don doesn't do expensive rentals. My guess is Mrazek or Allen are what he'd choose.

I think Allen makes some sense. The risk with Mrazek is that he gets injured so often that they might wind up back in the goalie market in a month. But they at least have familiarity with him, I suppose.

He has another year left, so probably either a 1st and a mid-tier prospect, or a high-end prospect. They would need to make the cap work, so those values might change as roster players get mixed in.

To be honest, I don't see Boston making the trade unless there is real incentive, and trading high picks and prospects does not fit Waddell's MO either. For Boston, trading Ullmark puts their season at major risk given how much they have been relying on goaltending. If the Canes don't plan to re-sign Teravainen, then there could be something there with more pieces leaving Boston with Ullmark, but I doubt that happens either. He is playing too well this year for Carolina to consider it.

Gibson was good 5 years ago. Saros shine has worn off this year. If we wanted swayman we should have OS him. Allen and Cart are fairly meh. Allen likely is the cheapest but makes a minimal impact. Hart and Gibson will cost way too much for their impacts.

Even that return is not great for Montreal, considering that they would have to use their last retention spot this year (and retain for 2 years) to only get a 3rd and a 5th round pick. I would rather that they use their last retention on Monahan when they (hopefully) trade him in order to increase the return in that trade. The retention in a Monahan trade might be the difference between a late first round pick and a later second round pick from a contending team.

No problem with trading Allen though. He should probably go so they can see what the Montembeault/Primeau duo can do for the rest of this non-playoffs year for the Habs.

At this point of the season with Monty signed and Primeau showing good stuff I think that taking on Allen's whole salary would be a positive. I'd accept something like Allen for Martinook with a mid round pick or something like this, a one year contract coming back to even up the cap a little bit and free you up a contract slot.

Mrazak probably costs a 3rd. Or a 2nd w/ retention.
