Yeah we aren’t adding a 1st and a 2nd for a guy who hasn’t played an NHL game

Ryan Leonard is the missing piece man. If there’s one player I want on Anaheim it’s him

Pick around 28th OA and pick around 62 OA

Anyway, it would be one of the best top 6 in the NHL for half a decade

It would be but can't see Caps doing it unless instead of Zegras it involved one of your top tier young prospects. It would be an overpay but that's what it would take to get it done. Lenny will be a star.

Too bad because Caps aren't trading Leonard.

They'll build around him.

If you’re a 65+ year old man that Watches analysts only and has no idea who anyone under 25 years old is , you’d think that

Sure, well give you our top center prospect, Nathan Gaucher.

Or were you trying to be cute and hint that you could land a McTavish or Carlsson?

We wouldn't be adding to Zegras for Lenny, straight swap at best, Zegras is the kind of playmaking center that will get Ovi past Gretzky's record, and whereas Lenny is a prospect, Zegras is a proven NHL top 6 talent

This is fully an endowment effect situation. WAS still wanting to compete with Ovi might actually benefit from moving Leonard for a super talented young C. If Zegras didn’t have the injuries and continued his development maybe that could be in the cards. But ANA wouldn’t/shouldn’t move him for anything less than full value, and Leonard is one of the hottest non-pro NHL prospects in the league right now. Even if the theoretical fit is there, I don’t see any way this swap happens, and I don’t blame either team for it

Same , Anaheim would basically be ottawa if they tanked properly from 2021-2024 and got Guenther, Jiricek , Ryan Leonard and now Dickinson

and i suppose if you're naive enough to think every prospect is going to pan out, you might think this is sure fire to be excellent. three of those guys have never played an NHL game. The odds of them all being elite is extremely low. FYI I've seen Gauthier live at least 10 times.

You can pencil "Ryan Leonard" next to "Alex Ovechkin" on the Caps untouchable board

A late first and a late second wouldn’t be enough to make up the gap between Zegras and Leonard imo. Leonard is gonna tear up this league. Zegras comes with a higher cap hit, too.

I was trying to be cute. Caps have no reason to trade Leonard unless a team overpays. Highly doubt ANA does it but Caps aren't doing it for Zegras either. Ovi will get the record with or without Zegras so that's not a selling point for the Caps.

Half of this top 6 hasn't played an NHL game yet lmao

Lot of projecting and speculation to say it would be the best top 6, thought it does look good on paper
