I am not taking that JK contract for FC let alone a conditional first. The guys is making nearly $5 mil and is a healthy scratch.

He's probably a bounceback candidate, there's a reason he was top-10 projected back in the day. I don't like him but he can't be THAT bad, plus second round picks don't often become quality NHLers

I think SJS should do that because you're getting probably a 2nd liner at 13, and Halttunen is likely a middle sixer - you're trading that for a first line guy

If he does not bounce back I want nothing to do with that contract. Still gonna be a hard no from me.

The Guentzel contracts that have been on CAR ACGMs lately are just laughable.

Hawks arent in a position to give up assets, let alone high value assets for a healthy scratch.

I think the general consensus is that KK isn't as valuable as you believe him to be. If you can find a team with cap space willing to trade assets for him, more power to you. I don't think Chicago would have any interest though.

I don't think carolina is willing to pony up the amount it would cost to dump that kk contract. He's gonna be a hurricane for atleast 3 more seasons unless carolina decides to buy him out

Hawks obviously decline. That ask for KK is ridiculous. Hawks won't want anything to do with that contract. Way too much term left for the Hawks to consider taking him.

Don’t see the Hawks biting at that price. Also pass on the Necas trade. 13th overall doesn’t do much for the canes and getting Michael Amadio to replace him on the 2nd line? No thanks. I do think Stephenson would be a great fit though especially if KK is moved. Same with Roy if Pesce walks.

I doubt the Hawks, or anyone, takes him for free. This contract, offersheet, was one of the biggest by any team in the league in recent memory.

Nail Yakupov was # 1 overall in the 2012 draft and was a colossal bust in the NHL, he never “bounced back”. Sometimes guys are just what they are, bottom of the roster fillers who were over drafted. At some point draft status means nothing unless it is backed up with on ice production.

With KK carrying a $4.82m cap hit for the next 6 seasons and even more actual $$ being owed, there is no chance Carolina is going to anyone ponying up the price you proposed. The cost to dump that contract would cost the 6th overall pick in the upcoming draft accordingly to Puckpedia’s cap relief calculator.

Only way the hawks take KK is if we're being paid a significant amount to take on the contract
