I'd think New Jersey declines on that one, esp at full cost

Merzlikins is worth like a second at most... no shot he pulls a decent prospect, good goalie prospect, and a first

There are better goalies in UFA this summer that don't cost 5.4m Easy no from Devils.

Devils decline the first trade. Jackets decline the second

CBJ hard pass on that Laine trade. No need to move him now, so no need to sell low.

Yeah, this trade is...lets say optimistic.

FWIW, my hope is whoever the new GM is would be willing to trade him with retention. Definitely doesn't pull in a 1st+ like this, but hopefully could do something.

I still think they'll be able to move Elvis without retaining, but they certainly won't get anything in return. He managed to be an average goalie behind a ****-show this season, so there's a serviceable goalie in there and other GMs know this. But this return is silly. Elvis unretained for future considerations is perfectly sufficient for me.

Columbus declines the second trade. No reason to move Laine for peanuts now.

I mean, one homer trade and one ripoff trade does technically come out balanced for the Jackets, but I suspect the Devils would object most vociferously to their part in the process.

Honestly if I’m the Hawks I steer clear of Laine until it is apparent he has overcome whatever off ice issues he is dealing with.

Hawks should probably accept that, doubt CBJ does

laugh Merzlikins doesn't remotely have anywhere near that kind of value.

And Patrik Laine isn't leaving one bad team for another either.

CHI should only consider Laine if CBJ is willing to pay to clear some cap space. I also don't think CHI should be willing to give up EDM for any reason.
